Abstract: PURPOSE:To make it possible to keep the target air flow rate for a long period by using an aqueous emulsion of a long-chain fatty acid ester as an air- entraining agent for concrete. CONSTITUTION:An admixture (air-entraining agent) for concrete obtained by using an aqueous emulsion of a fatty acid ester, e.g., methyl laurate, consisting of an 8-18C fatty acid and a 1-10C alcohol and having 0.05-20mum, preferably 0.05-10mum average particle diameter. The above-mentioned admixture for concrete can be used with other admixtures, such as commercially available water- reducing agents, slump loss preventive agents or hardening accelerators. The amount of the admixture to be added to the cement is normally 0.01-0.3% based on the cement.
