Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyurethane foam showing excellent modability without impairing split tear resistance even when the proportion of water is increased in order to lower the molding density. SOLUTION: This foam is obtained by reacting a compound having at least two isocyanate-reactive hydrogen atoms in the molecule and a molecular weight of 400-10,000 with a polyisocyanate in the presence of a foam stabilizer, water and a catalyst and has a ratio r1 /r2 of 0.02-0.80 (wherein r1 is the average diameter of the cells present on the surface part between the foam surface and the part which has a thickness of 5% of the entire foam thickness, and r2 is the average diameter of the cells present in the central part (a part covering 40-60wt.% of the entire foam thickness as measured from the foam surface).

CONSTITUTION:This binder compsn. for the sand core for high-pressure casting is the binder compsn. which consists essentially of furfuryl alcohol and is used at the time of producing the sand core to be applied to the undercut part in die casting for casting the light alloy under several 10 to several 100kg/cm pressure by blowing gaseous or aerosol sulfur dioxide into a sand mold formed by adding and mixing the binder compsn. and peroxide compsn. to and with refractory aggregate and molding the mixture. The furfuryl alcohol exists or remains in the above-mentioned binder compsn.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve setting speed of a mold by blending furfuryl alcohol, frufuryl alcohol/formaldehyde adding condensation compound and novolak type and resol type phenol resin at the specific ratios. CONSTITUTION:Binder for using composition for the mold is constituted by 100wt. parts of the furfuryl alcohol, 20-120 parts of the furfuryl/formaldehyde adding condensation compound, 5-70 parts of the novolak type phenol resin and 10-100 parts of the material containing thermo setting resin as the main component. This binder uses at about 0.5-5 parts and the setting agent uses at about 0.1-3 parts to 100 parts of aggregate for the mold composition.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a catalyst that imparts transparency to polyurethanes, the polyurethanes for which the catalyst is used and which have good transparency that is characterized by low deterioration per day, and to provide a method for producing such polyurethanes.
SOLUTION: This catalyst for producing polyurethanes contains 1 or more kinds of substances selected from the group consisting of triethylenediamine, 1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undecene-7,1,5-diazabicyclo[4.3.0]nonene-5, and their salts. The method for producing the polyurethanes comprises reacting a polyisocyanate component with a polyol component in the presence of the catalyst for producing polyurethanes. The polyurethane is obtained by reacting the polyisocyanate component with the polyol component in the presence of the above catalyst for producing polyurethanes.
