SOLUTION: The water soluble copolymer or its water soluble salt is produced by copolymerizing a monomer expressed by the formula (AO is a 2-3C oxyalkylene and (n) is 50-300 in average) and a monomer copolymerizable with the monomer.     Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an excellent dispersibility by incorporating a compd. in which an oxyalkylene group is introduced to an arom. compd. having a NH2 , SH or COOH group in a specified amount and a co-condensate with a material capable of formaldehyde co-condensation. SOLUTION: A compd. A is prepared by adding 2-3C alkylene oxide such as ethylene oxide to the arom. compd. having the NH2 , SH or COOH group such as benzoic acid in an average adding mol number of 2-300mol. Then the compd. A and a material B capable of co-condensing with formaldehyde such as phenol sulfonic acid are added and mixed to an aq. medium in a mol ratio of A/B is 1/99-95/5, and the formaldehyde is added to the medium and the soln. is heated and allowed to react for about 3-30hr to obtain the formaldehyde co-condensate having an average mol.wt. of about 1,000-100,000. Then a concrete admixture consisting essentially of the formaldehyde co-condensate is mixed to a cement in about 0.05-3.0wt.%, especially about 0.1-1.0wt.%, to obtain a hydraulic composition good in fluidity.

In the formulas II and III, each of R3-R5 is H, methyl or (CH2)m2COOM2, R6 is H or methyl, each of M1, M2 and Y is H, an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, ammonium, an alkylammonium or a substituted alkyl ammonium and m2 is 0-2.
