    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a locker arm which has excellent wear resistance and fatigue strength by a method wherein after an alloy material formed by a specified composition is cast by a matrix formed by a lost wax process to form a raw material, various kinds of treatment and processing are applied on the raw material. CONSTITUTION:A locker arm has an engaging end part 11 supported by a spherical support seat, a contact end part 12 brought into contact with the top part of a valve stem, and a plurality of through-holes 13a and 13b into which respective roller shafts are inserted. In this case, in mfr, an alloy material consisting of 0.3-0.45 carbon, 1.2-2.0wt.%, 5.0-6.0wt.% chrome, 1.0-1.5wt.% molybudenum, 0.8-1.2wt.% vanadium, up to 0.5wt.% manganese and a main remaining part consisting of iron is cast by a matrix formed by a lost wax process to produce a raw material. Annealing treatment, machine coarse processing, quenching, and finish processing are applied, in order, on the raw material to finish a locker arm.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the machinability of a rocker arm by manufacture it in such that its roller installing through-portion running vertically is formed in the middle portion of the rocker arm, on a swing arm type valve system provided in the center of the rocker arm with a roller in contact with the cam of a camshaft. CONSTITUTION:A valve device 7 has a suction valve rocker arm 11 with its one end being connected to a suction valve 8 and the other end being supported in rocking motion by a pivot 10 working as a supporting point, and a similar exhaust valve rocker arm 13. In this case, the rocker arm 11 (and 13 similarly) is formed so that a roller installing through-portion 19 is allowed to run through vertically in its middle portion. Also, holes 20a, 20b are formed in the middle portions of a pair of arms 11a, 11b, and a seat 21 is formed on the top and bottom positions of respective holes 20a, 20b in such that the inner faces of respective arms 11a, 11b are cut by machine work so as to slightly protrude inwardly. Furthermore, a roller 14 is placed on respective seats 21 via a circular plate 22 so as to be axially supported by a shaft 23, and is allowed to jointly work with respective cams 15a, 16a on camshafts 15, 16.

CONSTITUTION:When cylinder blocks at the right hand and the left hand are disposed at a prescribed angle on the upper portion of a cylinder block 2 for constructing banks 1A, 1B, a gear 10 for taking out a rotational power is disposed on a crankshaft 6. Reduction gears 11, 11 for both the banks 1A, 1B are disposed at the right and left hands above the crankshaft 6 and drive gears 13 are disposed at the extreme ends of the shaft members of the respective reduction gears 11. A timing belt member 16 trained around the gears 13 are also trained around the cam pulley at the end of a cam shaft 5 and a chain 15 is trained around a drive gear 23 provided with the pump shaft 22 of an oil pump 8 disposed below the crankshaft 6 and the above gears 10, 11.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To allow an ignition device to be applied even to an engine having a narrow valve caliper angle by immersing and arranging a casing containing an ignition coil in an oil space formed with a cylinder head and a head cover. CONSTITUTION:A casing main body 42 containing an ignition coil 36 is immersed and arranged in an oil chamber 24 formed with a cylinder head 8 and a head cover 20. Therefore, even if the valve caliper angle is narrow, e.g., about 36 deg., the ignition coil 36 can be arranged between cam shafts 21, 22. A gap between the casing main body 42 and a plug box 38 fitted with an ignition plug 34 is sealed with an O ring 54, and a gap between the casing main body 42 and the head cover 20 is sealed with a seal member 52 to secure the sealing performance of the oil chamber. Accordingly, the ignition coil can be arranged between the cam shafts even in a DOHC engine having a relatively narrow valve caliper angle.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To aim at improvement of the output of an engine by way of suppressing the occurrence of knocking and securing a stable combustion by placing an EGR (Exhaust gas recirculation) passage for the supply of EGR gas in such a manner that it points in the direction of a combustion chamber so as to produce the swirl of EGR gas around the outer periphery of the swirl of fresh air. CONSTITUTION:The No.1 port 6a for supplying fresh air and the No.2 port 6b for supplying EGR gas are directed in the nearly tangential direction of a cylinder. Hereby, fresh air (arrow A) from an air intake passage 11, and EGR gas (arrow B) from an EGR passage 17 produce, in a combustion chamber 5, swirls centering round the shaft center O of the cylinder. In addition, the No.2 port 6b is located outside the No.1 port 6a, and the swirl of EGR gas flows, in layers, outside the swirl of fresh air. And accordingly, since there is in existence almost only fresh air around an ignition plug 23, a stable combustion can be secured, while, since EGR gas is present along the wall surface of the cylinder, the occurrence of knocking can also be suppressed.
