The heating devices 2a, 2b heat the opposing ink chambers 1a, 1b, respectively. Heating conditions of the heating devices 2a, 2b are controlled by heat controlling devices 16a, 16b, respectively.

Therefore the paper P can be pinched together with the belt 14 by the pinch roller pair 3 while the flat state of the belt 14 is maintained.

SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus comprises a toner carrier 19, an opposing electrode 21 wherein a plurality of control electrodes are arranged in one direction at a portion opposite the toner carrier body 19, a control grid 23 wherein a plurality of control electrode are arranged between the toner carrier body 19, opposing electrode 21 in a direction different from the arrangement of the opposing electrode 21 and gates 21 are formed on the positions each being superposed with each control electrode in the opposing direction, and an electrode voltage controlling means 36 for controlling the flying of the toner in accordance with an image forming signal. In the opposing electrode 21, at least an adjacent face and a face at a side of the control grid are covered with an insulation layer.
