PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To directly input the position of a picture without hiding a screen with a finger and without making the screen dirty. SOLUTION: In a VCR 1, a flat pad 7 is provided in a main body part 2 while directed in the same direction as a liquid crystal panel 41 and is located at the position where the liquid crystal panel 41 is not hidden. Therefore, a user touches the surface of the flat pad 7 with respect to a desired position of the liquid crystal panel 41 while looking at the liquid crystal panel 41. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To magnify a selected portion in a small display unit such as a video camera and an electronic still camera for improving legibility but stop magnification display when equipment has been connected to a display unit with a large screen like an external monitor television. SOLUTION: This display method comprises a menu display means for displaying a menu with various items on a video camera or an electronic still camera screen by the use of menu keys, a menu item selection means for selecting a specific menu item on the displayed menu, and a display magnification means for magnifying only the selected item. This method performs control in such a way that a selected portion is magnified to improve on-screen legibility even in a small display screen but stop menu screen character magnification when equipment has been connected to a display unit with a large screen like a monitor television. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display method with which a selected portion is enlarged and displayed so as to be easily read even on a small screen in on-screen display of a video camera or an electronic still camera, and to perform control so as not to perform enlarged display when an apparatus is connected to a display device including a large display screen such as a monitor TV. SOLUTION: The disclosed apparatus includes a menu display means for displaying a menu of various items for controlling relevant equipment in on-screen display of the video camera or the electronic still camera using a menu key, a menu item selecting means for selecting a specific item of the displayed menu, and an enlarged display means for enlarging and displaying only the specific item selected thereby. In on-screen display, the selected portion is enlarged and displayed so as to be easily read even on the small display screen and when the apparatus is connected to the display device including the large display screen such as the monitor TV, control is performed so as not to enlarge and display characters on a menu picture by detecting the connection. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a dual optical disk driver which is capable of driving two sheets of optical disks with simple constitution and small size and is capable of driving an optical head to arbitrarily access two sheets of the optical disks. SOLUTION: This dual optical disk driver has rational driving means for rotationally and simultaneously driving the first and second optical disks 1 and 2 having recording surfaces facing each other and the optical head 6 disposed between the first and second optical disks 1 and 2. The optical head 6 has convergent light changeover irradiating means 14, 15a and 15b which change over the convergent light emitted form the optical head 6 and irradiate the respective recording surfaces of the first and second optical disks 1 and 2 with the convergent light.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a voice synthesizing device capable of miniaturizing a package and reducing weight by storing the voice information of multiple phrases, and reading and outputting the voice information of the corresponding phrase based on the phrase number information given from the outside. SOLUTION: This voice synthesizing device 11 reads and outputs the voice data of the specified phrase from a voice information memory 13 based on the phrase number obtained based on the phrase specifying signal S10 and data input signal S11 outputted from a personal computer 12. This output is analog-converted by a D/A conversion section 21, and the obtained voice signal S18 is outputted to the outside as the output signal S20 via a low-pass filter circuit section 22 and an outer terminal 23 in sequence. When the voice synthesizing device 11 is formed into one chip, the number of pins of the input terminals of the voice synthesizing device 11 can be reduced, and a package can be miniaturized and made lightweight.

PURPOSE:To enable the user to confirm a lightness setting state as required and to confirm a lightness display area in a limited view finder area by displaying the lightness setting state when a lightenss button is depressed while a cover covering the lightenss button is opened. CONSTITUTION:A slidable cover 2 is provided on a side face of a video camera 1 and a switch circuit in interlocking with the opening/closing of the cover 2 is provided on the side face. With the cover 2 opened, a lightness button 3 and a lightness setting dial 4 are exposed, and when the ligthness button 3 is depressed, the current lightness display is indicated in a view finder as, e.g. 24-stages of bar graph. When the lightness setting dial 4 is moved, the lightness state is changed and the display of the lightness setting state is changed according to the set lightness.

PURPOSE:To easily execute photographing for keeping a size against a picture frame constant with regard to a moving object, by providing a focusing circuit, and a zooming circuit for keeping a size of an object against the picture frame constant even if a distance between a camera and the object is varied due to a movement of the object to be photographed. CONSTITUTION:A focusing circuit 10 rotates a focusing lens barrel 3 by a prescribed angle theta1. This focal distance is determined clearly by a distance (s) to an object 13, and based on the distance (s) to the object 13, a prescribed driving signal is outputted to a motor 8 by a data which has been set in advance so as to be focused. A zooming circuit 9 displaces a position of a zoom lens by rotating a zooming lens barrel 2 by a prescribed angle thetaz in order to make a size of the object 13 constant in a picture frame of a view finder, based on a distance measured by a distance measuring means 12. That is, the focal distance becomes f=beta/beta-1.s. In this way, a focal distance (f) for making a size beta of the object 13 in the picture frame constant is determined clearly from the distance (s) to the object 13.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an encoder and decoder for performing LDPC (low density parity check) encoding/decoding optimal for a slot structure, and a transmission apparatus and a reception apparatus, in a transmission system for multiplexing, in a time division manner, a plurality of kinds of digital modulation systems. SOLUTION: Encoders 11-1, 11-2 perform LDPC encoding on predetermined data using a specific check matrix. The specific check matrix is generated by disposing one element of a partial matrix corresponding to an information length N-P corresponding to an encoding rate in a cycle for the unit of 374 columns in a column direction with a predetermined check matrix initial value table as an initial value. The check matrix initial value table is predetermined for each encoding rate of 11/40, 41/120, 49/120, 61/120, 73/120, 27/40, 89/120, 97/120, 101/120, 7/8, 109/120 with the identical code length N. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera-integrated video recorder/reproducer and its record control method in which target information amount is controlled in conformity to contents and properties of moving images to be photographed. SOLUTION: A target information amount control microcomputer 7 controls an encoding compressor 10 at a target bit rate, thereby performing a predetermined compression encoding process for moving image data from a filter calculator 4, so as to form an encoded bit stream. Further, a filter coefficient is instructed to the filter calculator 4, so that the moving image data is converted into data having a resolution suitable for encoding.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk in which power consumption at the time of playing the disk can be reduced. SOLUTION: A lead-in area 24 is arranged at the outermost circumference of a disk 22 and a program area 25 is arranged at the inside of the lead-in area 24 and also a lead-out area 26 is arranged at the inside of the program area 25. One line of track is formed in helical form from the lead-in area 24 till the lead-out area 26 through the program area 25. Moreover, the recording of signals on the track is performed at a constant linear velocity on this disk.
