    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a sublimation type printer obtaining high image quality by making the gap between a plurality of evaporators evaporating a liquefied disperse dye as small as possible. CONSTITUTION:A sublimation type printer is equipped with a dye storing tank 11 storing a solid disperse dye 12, a liquefied dye introducing part 16 liquefying the solid disperse dye in the dye storing tank 11 to guide the same and a plurality of evaporators 17 arranged along the liquefied dye introducing part 16 at a predetermined interval and evaporating the liquefied disperse dye 12' from the liquefied dye introducing part 16 by evaporation heat. The liquefied dye introducing part 16 is constituted of capillary tubes consisting of a protective layer 13, a spacer 14 and a head base 15 to be allowed to communicate with the respective evaporators 17. The evaporaters 17 are respectively arranged alternately on the left and right sides of the liquefied dye introducing part 16. By this constitution, the gap between the respective evaporators can be minimized and the evaporated disperse dye 12'' evaporated by the photothermal converters 40 of the evaporators 17 is thermally transferred to printing paper 50.

CONSTITUTION:A supply ribbon reel 30 having an ink ribbon 40 wound therearound is supported within an almost cylindrical cartridge main body 2 made of a synthetic resin having a ribbon supply port 23b in a freely rotatable manner. A leader guide film 41 is bonded to the leading end of the ink ribbon 40 and a positioning hole is formed to the central part of the leader guide film 41 on the leading end side thereof. The taking-up stopper 23c engaged with and separated from the positioning hole of the leader guide film 41 is integrally molded on the inner wall surface 23a of the upper case 20 of the cartridge main body 2 in a protruding state.

CONSTITUTION:A recessed groove part 13a extending horizontally in a transverse direction is formed on a position opposed to a bonding frame part 96 on the back side of a ribbon cartridge 90. A cutout part 13b is formed on a position opposed to a cutout part 96b of the bonding frame part 96 on the back side of the recessed groove part 13a. A locking part 110a provided at the top end of a locking lever 110 can engage with/disengage from the cutout part 96b of the ribbon cartridge 90 from the cutout part 13b of the groove part 13a of a ribbon containing part 13. Since the ribbon cartridge 90 is locked in a ribbon cartridge containing part 13 using the cutout part 96b formed in the bonding frame part 96 in this manner, a mechanism for locking the ribbon cartridge 90 is simplified, and the size of a printer is reduced.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To facilitate the replacement of a ribbon cartridge when an ink ribbon paid out from the ribbon cartridge is cut during printing by a method wherein a ribbon take-up reel is detachably provided on a take-up reel mount. CONSTITUTION:When an ink ribbon is cut, the cut state is detected by an optical sensor operates to rotate the take-up reel mount 69 counterclockwise and the supply reel mount clockwise. In this manner, the cut ink ribbon is separately wound on a ribbon take-up reel 17 and a ribbon supply reel. Upon completion of winding the cut ink ribbon separately on the ribbon reels, the ribbon take-up reel 17 is detached from the take-up reel mount 69, and the cut ink ribbon is removed. The ribbon take-up reel 17 with the cut ink ribbon removed is mounted on the take-up reel mount 69 and a bearing part 19, as shown by a two-dot chain line, to prepare for a next printing.

CONSTITUTION:The chucked state of a claw 18 of a ribbon take-up reel 17 with a lead-out engaged hole 95a of a ribbon lead-out sheet 95 is detected by reading a marker provided on the ribbon lead-out sheet 95 by an optical sensor provided in a printer body. If a failure in chucking the ribbon lead-out sheet 95 with the claw 18 is detected by the optical sensor, an ink ribbon is pulled back to a certain extent, and a chucking action is repeated until the ribbon lead-out sheet 95 is positively chucked to the claw 18. In this manner, the ribbon lead-out sheet 95 can be positively chucked to the claw 18 of the ribbon take-up reel 17 to be positively wound on a winding body part 17a.

Especially, the side surface of the heat insulating material 66 is supported by the spacer 62 to be set to a positionally prescribed state. Therefore, the heat insulating material 66 is easily positioned at the time of attachment and can be certainly attached. Even if the heat insulating material becomes small, the height of the porous structure is reduced and, in such a state that the heat insulating material 66 is supported by the spacer 62, yield and reliability are enhanced and cost reduction is achieved.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To eliminate damage during handling or processing and to increase the strength of a processed part to enhance reliability by integrally providing a recording material flying structure on a recording material supply structure part. CONSTITUTION: Heat of 50-500 deg.C is generated in a heating element 75 by the supply of a current and a liquefied dye 22 is heated by this heat to be evaporated. Since a spacer 82 composed of quartz glass is integrally provided under an insulating plate 73, the spacer 82 acts as a heat insulating material and the heat due to the heating element 75 is hardly dissipated. The supply passage 84 of the liquefied dye 22 is formed to the spacer 82 and opened to the bottom surface of a dye housing part 87 as a dye introducing port 84'. Since an insulating plate 73 is integrated on the spacer 82, this integrated structure becomes thick to be increased in mechanical strength. Therefore, mechanical strength at the time of the processing of the dye housing part 87, a small pillar element 80 and the dye passage 84 becomes sufficient and a crack or destruction is not generated and handling properties, processability or reliability can be enhanced.
