    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare a polyester compsn. useful for preparing a film or fiber excellent in abrasion resistance by compounding a thermoplastic polyester with a specific particulate zirconium oxide. CONSTITUTION:A thermoplastic polyester (e.g. polyethylene terephthalate) is compounded with a monoclinic and/or tetragonal particulate zirconium oxide pref. having a mean particle diameter of 0.005-3mum, still pref. 0.005-0.3mum.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce the membrane for concentrating an aq. soln. of a volatile org. liq. with the permeability and permselectivity improved by forming the membrane from a soln. of polyvinylidene fluoride-based polymer in a mixture of a solvent for the polymer and a solvent having higher volatility than the polymer solvent. CONSTITUTION:The membrane is formed from the soln. of a polyvinylidene fluoride-based polymer contg. at least 50wt.% polyvinylidene polymer in a mixture of the polymer solvent (e.g. dimethylformamide) and a solvent (e.g. toluene) having higher volatility than the polymer solvent. The ratio of the polymer solvent to the high-volatility solvent is controlled to 0.05-20wt.% based on the total solvent weight. Consequently, the volatile org. liq. is selectively separated from the aq. soln. and concentrated, and a membrane for concentrating an aq. soln. of a volatile org. liq. capable of being used in the liq.-liq. membrane separation method and with the permeability and permselectivity improved is produced.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polyester having a high degree of polymerization, improving economical properties as compared with the conventional method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This method for producing the cyclic polyester oligomer is characterized by using a linear polyester oligomer having 1.0-1.6 initial molar ratio of a diol component/a dicarboxylic acid component in performing an esterification reaction of the dicarboxylic acid with the diol. And further, the method for performing a ring opening polymerization of the obtained cyclic polyester oligomer is also provided.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polyester, capable of giving the polyester having a better color tone, less dipropylene glycol content, and less carboxyl end-group content, when compared with conventional polypropylene terephthalate. SOLUTION: This method for producing a polyester comprises subjecting an aromatic dicarboxylic acid consisting mainly of terephthalic acid or its ester-forming derivative to esterification reaction or ester interchange reaction with a diol consisting mainly of propylene glycol, then subjecting the reaction product to polycondensation to produce the polyester of which the repeating unit consists mainly of propylene terephthalate, wherein a titanium compound is used as a catalyst for the esterification reaction, the ester interchange reaction and/or the polycondensation reaction, and further at least one kind of alkaline compound selected from the group consisting of nitrogen-containing compounds, sodium hydroxide, and potassium hydroxide is added to the reaction mixture.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a polyester fiber for reinforcing a rubber, capable of being produced without pressure increase caused by foreign matters originating in L catalyst used at the time of polymerization, with good fiber-formability when producing the polyester fiber, having a higher strength compared to the conventional one, and excellent in dimensional stability. SOLUTION: This polyester fiber for reinforcing the rubber is a polyester fiber containing the residue of a complex oxide in which its metal elements consist essentially of titanium and silicon, and is characterized in that the fiber is composed of the polyester containing 0.5-300 ppm titanium expressed in terms of titanium atom, and the dimensional stability [middle elongation (elongation at 4 cN/dtex) + heat shrinkage in dry air] is 8-12%.
