Abstract: A soft stretch yarn substantially comprising polyester fibres has a stress, at 50% yarn stretch, of no more than 30x10 cN/dtex and, at the same time, a percentage recovery of at least 60%. Preferably, the Uster unevenness is no more than 2.0% and the crimp diameter is no more than 250 mu m. This soft stretch yarn can be produced by spinning yarn of conjugate fibres comprising two types of polyester in which one component is PTT at a take-up velocity of at least 1200 m/min, drawing at a drawing temperature of 50 to 80 DEG C at a draw ratio such that the drawn yarn tensile elongation is 20 to 45%, and then heat setting.

Abstract: Highly oriented undrawn polyester fibers show a diffraction peak, due to crystals of the polyester, observable in a wide angle x-ray diffraction image of the fibers and having a birefringence of 0.015 to 0.05. A process for preparing highly oriented undrawn core-sheath type conjugated polyester fibers which may have such diffraction and birefringence properties comprises the step of spinning a polyester as the sheath polymer and a polymer having a gradient of elongational viscosity with temperature larger than that of the sheath polymer, at a spinning speed of 4000 to 12000 m/min. The fibers may be falsetwisted to obtain a textured yarn.

Abstract: An abrasive cloth which comprises an article in a sheet form having, in at least a part thereof, nanofibers comprising a thermoplastic polymer and having a number average single fiber fineness of 1 x 10 -8 to 2 x 10 -4 dtex wherein the sum of single fiber fineness percentages (which is defined in the specification) of a single fiber fineness of 1 x 10 -8 to 2 x 10 -4 dtex is the range of 60 % or more, and exhibits a stress at 10 % elongation in a longitudinal direction of 5 to 200 N/cm-width; and a method for preparing a nanofiber structure, which comprises providing a nanofiber dispersion having a dispersant and, dispersed therein, nanofibers comprising a thermoplastic polymer and having a number average diameter of 1 to 500 nm, attaching the dispersion to a support, and then removing said dispersant. The above abrasive cloth is excellent in texturing characteristics, and the above method allows the preparation of a nanofiber structure wherein nanofibers form a composite with the support.
