Abstract: PURPOSE:To decrease inner loss in a battery, and perform stabilized charging and discharging by disposing multifilament yarns of a number of continuous carbon fibers in a carbon base material of a layer structure to be radially extended from an inner surface of a split cylinder or a cylinder toward an outer surface, and arranged at a desired interval in the circumferential direction of the split cylinder or the cylinder. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode collector for a sodium-sulfer battery has a layer structure of a carbon fiber base material 9, and it has a split cylinder form as a whole. The base material 9 has multifilament yarns 10 of a number of continuous carbon fibers. The yarns 10 are radially extended from an inner surface of the split cylinder toward an outer surface, and they are arranged in the circumferential direction of the split cylinder at a desired interval. Auxiliary yarns 11, 12 extended in the arrangement direction of the yarns 10 connect the yarns 10 to each other by leno weaving organization. Connection by the auxiliary yarns 11, 12 is performed almost at center parts of the length of the yarns 10. Sulfur is impregnated in the positive electrode collector.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable the minimization of a heating body in shape and the reduction thereof in heat capacity to be obtained, by forming each of connecting members that are interposed between a heating body and electrodes and then supply electric currents to the heating body, out of carbon fibre/carbon composite. CONSTITUTION:A cage type heating body 1, for example, is formed out of carbon fibre/carbon composite(C/C composite), and then the terminal portions 1a, 1a thereof are respectively led out in the shape of a leg so that there are formed through-holes 1b, 1b. Each of conductive connecting members 2, which is a strip-like sheet, having both ends formed with through-holes 2a, 2b is formed out of the C/C composite. In connecting each conductive connecting member 2, the heating body 1 is overlapped at the through-hole 1b in the terminal portion 1a on the through-hole 2a in each conductive connecting member 2 while each conductive connecting member 2 is overlapped at the other through-hole 2b on a through-hole 4a in each of Cu electrodes 4, so that they are respectively screwed tight. Since, in this manner, the heating body is formed out of the C/C composite having low resistivity and great mechanical strength, it can be thinned and miniaturized while also having less heat capacity.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the dispersion on the heating surface and obtain a heater with large mechanical strength and good workability by making the alignment pattern of carbon fibers viewed from the vertical direction to the heating surface equal between portions at any portion of the heating surface. CONSTITUTION:A carbonizable material is impregnated in a circular fabric of carbon fibers stacked for artificial isotropy or an unwoven mat of one- direction aligned materials or carbon fibers, and it is baked to form a planar heater 1. When the fabric or the like of carbon fibers corresponding to the shape of the heater 1 is used, carbon fibers have the same alignment at any portion when viewed from the vertical direction to the heater 1, the heat quan tity is made equal. The dispersion of the heating surface is small, the heater with large mechanical strength and various shapes is obtained.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the strength and heat resistance of a composite material by combining carbon fiber having a specified modulus of tensile elasticity in the axial direction with an Al alloy contg. Mg. CONSTITUTION:Carbon fiber having >=26t/mm modulus of tensile elasticity and >=1.0% tensile fracture elongation in the axial direction is combined with an Al alloy contg. 3-12wt.% Mg by hot pressing, powder metallurgical processing, high pressure casting or other method. The strength of the resulting composite material is hardly reduced even when the material is used at high temp. or subjected to a thermal cycle, so the material is applicable to the fan blades of a compressor, etc., for a jet engine and various parts of a locket, an artificial satellite, etc.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make small the fluctuating width of a helical winding angle, by forming a plurality of helical winding layers in a thickness direction, and making the helical winding angle at the center of the thickness at each helical winding layer to be equal each other in each helical winding layer. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of helical winding layers of continuous filaments are formed in the thickness direction by means of a filament winding technique. Each helical winding layer is so formed, that a required helical winding angle thetam can be obtained by controlling the rotative speed of a core metal and the feeding speed of the continuous filaments in the case when the apparent diameter of the core metal is d1m=di+di'/2 for the first layer, and each helical winding angle thetam can be obtained when the apparent diameter of the core metal is d2m=di'+dm/2, d3m=dm+de'/2 and d4m=de'+de/2 for the second, third and fourth layer respectively.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To permit extremely easy removal of a core when the core is cooled after production by arranging the innermost layer of an assemblage of reinforcing fibers in such a manner that the direction of the reinforcing fibers is in the peripheral direction of the core. CONSTITUTION:The assemblage 2 of the reinforcing fibers is disposed around the round bar-shaped core 1 in a metallic mold 3. The innermost layer 4 of the assemblage 2 is so arranged that the reinforced fibers are directed in the circumferential direction of the core. The reinforcing fiber layer 5 is arranged on the outside of the layer 4 according to applications, etc. A melt 6 of a metal to serve as a matrix is then poured into the mold 3 and is pressurized by a plunger 7 by which the molten metal is impregnated into the assemblage 2 and is solidified. The mold 3 and a base 8 are separated, upon solidification of the molten metal 6, and an FRM is taken out together with the core 1 from the mold 3. The core 3 is then removed. A difference in the coefft. of thermal expansion between the core 1 and the FRM in the radial direction is increased and the removal of the core 1 is facilitated.
