    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the neighboring hollow threads from sticking each other and to make relative position to be uniform in the vessel by braiding numbers of hollow threads having liquid separating function into a three dimensional braided structural body. CONSTITUTION:In the hollow thread bundles consisting of plural hollow threads 2 having selective permeability, bonded parts 17, 18 are formed so as to adhere the outer surfaces of hollow threads each other in the vicinity of ends parts of the hollow threads 2. The passage 21-22, 23-24 are formed in the vessel 19 so as to communicate respectively to the hollow side and to the outer side of the hollow threads which are sectioned using the bonded parts 17, 18 as boundaries formed when the hollow thread bundles are received in the vessel. And, at least one set of the above-mentioned bundles is made of the three dimensional braided structural body. As a result, the mutual sticking of hollow threads, the area reduction of hollow thread membrane, and the biased flow in the vessel are eliminated.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a fiber provided with flame resistance in high stability for a long period in such a way that a solid granular double layer is provided on each porous dispersion plate and a reactive gas is fed from the plate to fluidize the upper layer alone, within which a precursor fiber is continuously heat-treated and the heating medium granules are uniformly fluidized. CONSTITUTION:A precursor fiber 101 is drawn out of a package 30 thereof and introduced, via a sealing device 11, into a furnace 1 for flame resistance provision. Within the furnace 1, the second solid granular layer 14 and the first one 15 consisting of solid granules differing from each other are put on, in this order, respective porous dispersion plates 8, 8'. A reactive gas is fed, via air inlets 9, 9', through said plates 8, 8', respectively, to fluidize the first layer 5 alone. The precursor fiber 101 is then continuously heat-treated in the resultant fluidized bed, thus obtaining the objective fiber 103 provided with flame resistance.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To perform uniform heat-treatment of fiber even by using a fluidized layer having low height, by fluidizing heat-medium particles deposited on a dispersion plate with gas blasted through the holes of the dispersion plate, and passing a number of precursor fibers through the fluidized layer in a specific arrangement. CONSTITUTION:Heat-medium particles are deposited on dispersion plates 8, 8' in a flame-resistant treatment furnace 1 and are fluidized by oxidizing gas blasted upward through the holes of the dispersion plates 8, 8'. A group of precursor fibers 101 is continuously passed through the obtained fluidized layer to effect the flame-resistant treatment of the fiber 101. In the above apparatus for the flame-resistant treatment, the precursor fibers are vertically arranged into plural sections and placed at a height of 5-500mm from the dispersion plates 8, 8' by guiding means 41, 42, 43, 44 and, at the same time, heating means 6, 7 are placed in a gas channel before the oxidizing gas enters into the fluidized layer.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce carbon fibers of high quality with reduced physical damage and reduced reactions of substances adhered to the fibers, by preoxidizing the precursor fibers in the fluidized bed of heat medium particles and removing the heat medium particles from the fibers by a non-contact means before carbonization of the fibers. CONSTITUTION:Precursor fibers 101 are taken out of the package 30 and passed through the preoxidization furnace containing heat medium particles 5 which are fluidized with the air sent from inlet 9 through heaters 6, 7, into preoxidized fibers 102. Then, the heat medium sticking to the preoxidized fibers are removed with a non-contact means 20 and the preoxidized fibers are wound around the package 31. The fiber product is taken out of the package 31, passed through the carbonization furnace 2 in an inert gas atmosphere to effect carbonization, then wound around the package 32 whereby the subject carbon fibers 104 are obtained.
