    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled film with little damage of the processing rolls to be applied on and also little stained, outstanding in slipperiness, by incorporating a polyester with internally separated particles and/or inert particles so that the average surface roughness and the polyester content in the shared product in the processing fall within specified ranges, respectively. CONSTITUTION:(A) A polyester constituted mainly of ethylene terephthalate unit is incorporated with pref. 1-5wt.% of (B) internally separated particles such as of calcium compound and/or (C) inert particles dispersed in ethylene glycol so that the difference between the cold crystallization temperature and the glass transition point for the resulting master pellets fall in the range, pref. from 65-110 deg.C, followed by forming through a melt extruder into the objective biaxially oriented film with the refractive index ratio falling, pref. between 0.935-0.975 in the direction of thickness. This film has the following additional characteristics: 1, polyester content in the shaved product sticked to the processing rubber roll 0.5-0.95wt.%, 2, average surface roughness 3-30nm.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title film excellent in lubricity, chipping resistance, adaptable for high-speed processing and suitable as a base film for videotapes, by forming a composition comprising a polyester and inert inorganic particles into a film and biaxially orienting this film. CONSTITUTION:0.3-3.0wt.% slurried inert inorganic particles (e.g., TiO2) of an average particle diameter of 0.05-0.6mu are dispersed in a diol component (e.g., ethylene glycol) of a polyester and an acid component [e.g., terephthalic acid (dimethyl ester)] is added to this diol component. The mixture is transesterified and polycondensed to obtain a composition comprising a polyester and the inert inorganic particles. An unoriented film formed by extruding this composition at 270-330 deg.C with a melt extruder is biaxially oriented at a draft ratio of 3.0-5.0 and a speed of orientation of 1X10 -7X10 %/min and heat- treated at 180-250 deg.C for 0.5-60sec without elongation to obtain the title film satisfying the relationships of formulas I-III [wherein D is the average particle diameter (mu) of the inert inorganic particles; Ra is the average surface roughness (mu) along the direction of the film width; and H is the average height (mu) of surface protrusions] and having a surface orientation index of 0.935-0.970, a density index of 0.02-0.05, etc.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the formation of wrinkles through the lapse of time of a film roll by forming the main constituent of the film from the composition consisting of polyester and at least one kind of inactive inorganic particles. CONSTITUTION:The polyester which constitutes the main constituent of a film consists of ethylene terephthalate, alpha-ethylene, etc., and the inorganic substances which are inactive for polyester such as spherical silica particles are added into said polyester, and the film is prepared. After said film is extended to a thickness of about 5-16mum, a film roll is obtained by winding said film onto a core having an outside diameter of 10-250mm so that the winding diameter is set within a range of 20-300mm. The inactive inorganic particles added into the polyester is formed desirably by the combination of the particle having the average particle size of 0.05-0.5mum in 0.1-1wt% and the particle having the average particle size of 0.6-1.5mum in 0.001-0.05wt%.
