    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve impact resistance and taste and perfume retentivity with retardence of foaming at the time of opening a can as a carbonated beverage container by setting height of protrusions and number of them per unit area on a film surface to specific values and setting a surface roughness of the film to a specific value. SOLUTION: Protrusions each having 400 nm of more of height on a film surface are set to 150 pieces/cm or less, and three-dimensional roughness of the film is set to 8 to 25 nm. A surface orientation coefficient of the polyester film is set to 0.101 to 0.118, its mean refractive index is preferably set to 1.595 to 1.600, and its melting point is preferably 215 to 240 deg.C. And, to control the film surface, as lubricating material particles, unshaped aggregate particles having a mean particle size of 0.1 to 0.8 μm (0.01 to 1.00 wt.%) are added and preferably oriented at a temperature higher by 15 to 50 deg.C than its glass transition temperature so that longitudinal draw rate is 2.5 to 3.5 times, lateral draw rate is 2.5 to 3.5 times and a product of the longitudinal and lateral draw rates becomes 11.0 times or less.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyester film as a magnetic recording medium, which is excellent in scratch resistance, fits for repeated use and meets the requirements for higher image quality, by a method wherein the surface roughness of at least one side of film and the height and number of projections per unit area of the surface of the film are provided. CONSTITUTION:The surface of the film concerned is set to have the center-like mean surface roughness Ra of 10-30nm and, at the same time, the three-dimensional mean surface roughness SRa of 15-55nm. If the surface roughness of film is smaller than the above-mentioned range, the frictional coefficient of the resultant film becomes larger and if the surface roughness of film is larger than the above-mentioned range, unsatisfactory image quality results. Further, the number of projections having the height of 200-400nm is set to be 1,100 or more per 0.1nm and the number of projections having the height of 400-600 is set to be 600 or less per 0.1nm . If the former is not more than 1,100, unsatisfactory usage durability results. If the latter is not less than 600, poor image quality results. The film concerned can be obtained by adding 0.01-1.5vol.% of inactive particle having the average particle diameter of 0.1-1.0mum.
