    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled copolymer of high degree of polymerization in a short time in high yield, by prepolymerization of ethylene oxide in the presence of a specific catalyst followed by contact with trioxane. CONSTITUTION:(A) Polyoxyethylene active polymer (solution) with a number- average mol.wt. of 100-20,000 prepared by prepolymerization of ethylene oxide (pref. at -30-10 deg.C) using, as the catalyst, a boron trifluoride hydrate and/or a coordinate compound from boron trifluoride and oxygen- or sulfur atom-contg. organic compound (pref. boron trifluoride-diethyl ether complex) is brought into contact with (B) trioxane (pref. made to react at 65-110 deg.C) to obtain the objective oxymethylene copolymer.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare a high-MW oxymethylene copolymer excellent in heat resistance, etc., in a short time, by preliminarily polymerizing 1,3-dioxolane in the presence of a boron trifluoride polymn. catalyst and bringing the preliminary polymer into contact with trioxane. CONSTITUTION:Preparation is made of a polymn. catalyst selected from coordination compds. of boron trifluoride hydrate and boron trifluoride with an org. compd. contg. an oxygen or sulfur atom. (e.g., boron trifluoride-diethyl ether complex). 1,3-Dioxolane is preliminarily polymerized in the presence of the above-mentioned catalyst to prepare an active poly(oxymethylene/oxyethylene) copolymer (in the form of a soln.) having a number-average MW of 150-20,000, which is then brought into contact with trioxane to prepare an oxymethylene copolymer. This copolymer is suitably used to produce parts of mechanical structures, electrical and electronic components, etc.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyester of a uniform degree of polymerization at a high rate of polymerization, by polymerizing a polyester in a solid state polymerization tank in an inert gas whose dew point is adjusted to a specified temperature. CONSTITUTION:A polyester obtained from a pelletized aromatic dicarboxylic acid and a 2-4C diol (e.g., polybutylene terephthalate) is polymerized for 5-25hr at 170 deg.C to the m.p. -10 deg.C in a solid state polymerization tank in an inert gas (e.g., N2) whose dew point is adjusted to -40 deg.C or below, preferably, -50--70 deg.C.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a high-MW oxymethylene copolymer inexpensively in high yield within a short time, by premixing a cyclic ether with a polymerization catalyst of a boron trifluoride type, adding the mixture to trioxane and bulk- polymerizing it. CONSTITUTION:A cyclic ether (A) (e.g., propylene oxide or 1,3-dioxolane) is well premixed with a polymerization catalyst (B) selected from among boron trifluoride (hydrate) and a coordination compound of boron trifluoride with an oxygen or sulfur-containing organic compound (e.g., boron trifluoride diethyl etherate). The obtained mixture is added to trioxane, which is bulk-polymerized to give an oxymethylene copolymer. Since the polymerization catalyst can be activated by the cyclic ether, the polymerization time can be shortened and the polymer yield can be improved.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled composition having excellent adhesivity to metal, low-temperature impact strength and surface property of coating film and capable of lowering the heating temperature of substrate, etc., by adding a leveling agent, etc., to a thermoplastic polyester block copolymer having a specific melting temperature. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition having improved coating performance and luster of coated surface as well as adhesivity can be produced by compounding (A) 100pts.(wt.) of a thermoplastic polyester block copolymer having a melting temperature of 100-200 deg.C measured by differential scanning calorimeter and obtained by reacting (i) an aromatic polyester derived from a dicarboxylic acid component containing >=40mol% terephthalic acid and a diol component containing >=50mol% 1,4-butanediol with (ii) an aliphatic polyester composed mainly of an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid or aliphatic oxycarboxylic acid with (B) preferably 0.05-2pts. of a leveling agent (e.g. a mixture of acrylic copolymer and powdery silica) and/or a crystallization promoter.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a thermoplastic resin composition excellent in flexibility, high-temperature properties, compression set resistance, mechanical properties, etc., by mixing a polyamide with a nitrile rubber and a specified organic peroxide and melt-kneading the mixture. CONSTITUTION:The following three components A-C are melt-kneaded together. (A): 5-50pts.wt. polyamide of a m.p. >=170 deg.C; (B): 95-50pts.wt. nitrile rubber; and (C): an organic peroxide having a 1min half-life temperature >=185 deg.C in an amount to provide 0.002-0.05mol of the peroxide group per 100g of the nitrile rubber (B) are melt-kneaded together (the total of A and B being 100pts. wt.).
