Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a high ionic conductivity and excellent mechanical properties by hardening a compsn. comprising an acryloyl-modified polyalkylene oxide, a polyalkylene glycol-polyvinyl chloride block copolymer, and an inorg. ionic salt. CONSTITUTION:The title solid electrolyte is prepd. by hardening a compsn. comprising an acryloyl-modified polyalkylene oxide, a block copolymer contg. a polyalkylene glycol and a polyvinyl chloride, and an inorg. ionic salt. The acryloyl-modified polyalkylene oxide pref. has a mol.wt. of about 250-3000. The addition of a polyalkylene glycol of the general formula, R'O-(CH2CHRO)n- R'' (wherein R, R', and R'' are each H or lower alkyl; and (n) is an integer of 3-30), or a deriv. thereof as the fourth component to the compsn. can further enhance the ionic conductivity.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve water resistance and to prevent the deterioration and change in properties of a liquid crystal and a dichroic dye by impregnating the liquid crystal or the liquid crystal and the dichroic dye into the communicating gap parts in a porous film of a three-dimensionally crosslinked structure and thereby forming the combined film. CONSTITUTION:This film is formed by emulsifying and crosslinking a mixture composed of an aq. water soluble polymer soln. and excess polyisocyanate or a mixture composed of an aq. water soluble polymer soln., the polyisocyanate and a high boiling compd., then removing the unreacted polyisocyanate or the high boiling compd. and impregnating the liquid crystal into the resulted water resistant porous film. The water soluble polymer is exemplified by polyvinyl alcohol and polypropylene glycol, the polyisocyanate by diisocyanate and triisocyanate and the high boiling compd. by, for example, liquid paraffin, octyl benzene, etc., which hardly evaporate at the time of crosslinking. The water resistance is improved in this way and the deterioration of the liquid crystal and the dichroic dye is prevented.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To industrially advantageously obtain the title compound useful as an intermediate for antiphlogistic, analgesic and antipyretic agents in one stage and easy reaction operation by reacting substituted benzenes with pyruvic acid in the presence of Lewis acid in a solvent and then hydrolyzing the resultant product. CONSTITUTION:For example, substituted benzenes expressed by formula I or formula II (X and Y are 1-5C straight-chain or branched alkyl and further X is halogen) are reacted with pyruvic acid of 0.3-4 times by mol, preferably 0.5-2.5 times by mol based on the above-mentioned compound in the presence of a Lewis acid, preferably inorganic acid, especially inorganic aluminum chloride of 0.1-7 times by mol, preferably 0. 5-3 times by mol based on the above- mentioned compound in a solvent (preferably methylene chloride), normally at - 60 to +60 deg.C, preferably at -40to +30 deg.C and then hydrolyzed to industrially advantageously provide the title compound useful as a precursor for 2-(4- substituted phenyl)propionic acid (the above-mentioned medicine).

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare a highly concentrated and homogeneous polyimide solution having definite viscosity, stably, by prepolymerizing a specific tetracarboxylic acid with an aromatic diamine in a phenolic ompound as a solvent, and then polymerizing the prepolymer in a closed system. CONSTITUTION:The titled composition is prepared by (1) prepolymerizing (A) a tetracarboxylic acid component composed mainly pref. >=90mol% of 3,3',4,4'- biphenyltetracarboxylic acid with (B) an aromatic diamine component composed mainly (pref. >=70mol%) of 4,4'-diaminodiphenyl ether in (C) a phenolic compound as a solvent, raising the temperatur to 100-200 deg.C, (pref. 120-195 deg.C), and (2) polymerizing the prepolymer in a closed system at 100-300 deg.C until the partial pressure of water in the raction system and the water content of the polymerization liquid become constant, if necessary adding water to the reaction system. The amount of (A) is equimolar to (B), and the amount of (C) is selected to attain the concentration of (A)+(B) of 5-20wt%.

Abstract: PURPOSE:Tetracarboxylic acid component and aromatic diamine component at a specified molar ratio are polymerized in a solvent of halogenated phenol at a specific temperature followed by imidization to produce title solution suitably used as a varnish for coating electric wires that gives cured films with high strength. CONSTITUTION:The polymerization of (A) tetracarboxylic acid component containing more than 80mol% of 3,3',4,4'-biphenyltetracarboxylic acid and (B) aromatic diamine component containing more than 70% of 4,4'-diaminodiphenylether at a sustantially equimolar ratio is effected in a solvent of halogenated phenol as p-chlorophenol, etc., at about 100-300 deg.C, followed by imidization to produce the objective solution of polymer with the structure given in the formula as the major component.
