Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable continuous decomposition of a fluorine-contg. compd., especially a perfluorocompd. by bringing a gaseous fluorine-contg. compd. into contact with molecular oxygen and water in the presence of a catalyst prepared by depositing inorg. acid on a carrier. SOLUTION: When a gaseous fluorine-contg. compd. (such as perfluoro compds. and fluorinated hydrocarbons) is to be decomposed, the fluorine-contg. compd. is brought into contact with molecular oxygen and water in the presence of a catalyst which is prepared by depositing an inorg. acid on a carrier. As for the inorg. acid, sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, and as for the carrier, for example, a alumina such as γ-alumina are preferably used. The shape of the alumina is not limited and properly selected according to the reactor and the reaction method. The inorg. acid is deposited on the carrier, for example, by 0.01 to 20 wt.% of the carrier, and especially preferably 0.1 to 10 wt.%. As for the molecular oxygen, a gas prepared by diluting oxygen gas with inert gas such as nitrogen can be used, however, air is preferably used.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce ε-caprolactam useful as a material for nylon at a high conversion rate and with high selectivity by a catalytic gas-phase conversion of cyclohexanone oxime in the presence of a specific alcohol by the use of a specific zeolite as a catalyst. SOLUTION: This ε-caprolactam is produced easily using an inexpensive catalyst without decrease in the conversion rate by a catalytic gas-phase conversion of cyclohexanone oxime by the use of ZSM-5 type zeolite having an atomic Si/Al ratio smaller than 100, preferably ZSM-5 type zeolite having an atomic Si/Al ratio of 1-50, as a catalyst, in the presence of a 7C or higher aliphatic alcohol, preferably 1-heptanol, 1-octanol, 1-nonanol, etc., specifically 1-octanol. As a catalyst, mordenite type and Y type of zeolite whose Si/Al ratio is 50 or less, preferably 1-30, may be used.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely obtain a diaryl carbonate useful as a raw material for polycarbonate from a diaryl oxalate in high reaction rate and selectivity without using highly toxic phosgene. SOLUTION: A diaryl carbonate of formula II is produced by the decarbonylation reaction of a diaryl oxalate of formula I by heating the diaryl oxalate in vapor phase in the presence of an alkaline earth metal oxide while adding an aromatic hydroxy compound to the reaction system. The aromatic hydroxy compound is preferably added in an amount of 0.1-50mol based on 1mol of the diaryl oxalate. The diaryl oxalate is especially preferably diphenyl oxalate and the aromatic hydroxy compound is especially preferably phenol. The alkaline earth metal oxide is e.g. magnesium oxide or calcium oxide.

CONSTITUTION: This carbonate is obtained by reaction between (B) a chloroformic ester and (C) an organic hydroxy compound such as a compound of formula I [A is a single bond, O, S, a group of formula II (R and R are each a 1-8C alkyl, 5-8C chcloalkyl or 7-8C aralkyl), group of formula III (R -R are each the same as R ), etc.] in the presence of (A) a catalyst, i.e., a metal element belonging to platinum metals or primary transition metal group or its compound (for example, prepared by the following method: a palladium tetramine complex, acetylacetonato complex or high-valence phosphine complex, or tetrachloropalladium acid salt is reduced by hydrogen into the corresponding metal, which is then carried on a carrier such as alumina, silica or active carbon).
