Abstract:
An improved liquid spray masking composition including an effective amount of a non-volatile polyhydroxy component is provided. The preferred polyhydroxy components comprise polyglycerols, especially triglycerols or larger polyglycerols. The presence of such materials in masking compositions improves performance of the compositions with respect to inhibition of high temperature swelling, blistering or spotting of the painted surface to which it is applied.
Abstract:
Method of restricting a coating to a first area having an adjacent second area which is to be covered by a mask before the coating is applied, including the steps of separating the areas with a barrier strip of masking paper, applying a masking composition to the second area pressing the paper against the composition to produce a guarding edge between the first and second areas, and applying coating material to the first area, the masking composition inhibiting dust on the second area from marring the coating, and protecting the second area from coating overspray. Also disclosed is a masking system including the barrier strip of masking paper pressed against the film of the masking composition applied to the painted portion of an automobile. The masking composition is easily removable by a water wash after coating of the unmasked area of the automobile.
Abstract:
A process for facilitating the removal of undesired contamination from a surface, comprising the steps:(a) applying a solution containing a polysaccharide and a solvent therefor onto said surface before it is subjected to contamination, said polysaccharide being capable of forming a redissolvable or swelling solid film upon drying;(b) allowing the applied solution to dry to form a solid film on said surface;(c) treating the coated surface with a liquid capable of redissolving the film or providing for swelling thereof; and(d) removing the undesired contamination by removing the dissolved or swelled surface layer of the film.
Abstract:
An undercoating for the vacuum deposition of material thereover that can be removed from a substrate by washing with water for one minute or less comprising a water soluble film-forming polymers, a solubility accelerator and a solid particulate material that provides a rough surface topology to the undercoating when dried.
Abstract:
A process for producing a solid-state color pickup array, which comprises forming a resist mask on a wafer having a solid image pickup array; vapor-depositing a colorant on the wafer having the resist mask and on the resist mask; and removing the resist mask by dissolution, thereby eliminating selectively the colorant film vapor-deposited on the resist mask.
Abstract:
This protective coating, especially for aircraft bodies and the like, has one or more primer layers and one or more top coat layers, as well as an intermediate layer which is easily dissolved. The intermediate layer protects the primer when the top coat is removed for a new paint job.
Abstract:
A method for producing a film includes: coating a surface of a substrate with a composition containing a polymer having a structural unit represented by formula (1) and having a number average molecular weight of 13000 or more and a solvent, heating a coating film formed by the coating, and removing, with a rinsing liquid, a part of the coating film after the heating, wherein the rinsing liquid to be used contains a basic compound. In the formula (1), Y1 is a single bond, —CO—NR2—, a divalent aromatic ring group, a divalent group containing —O—, or a divalent group containing —CO—NR2—. A1 is a single bond, —O—, —S—, or —NR3—. R1 is a hydrogen atom, a monovalent hydrocarbon group, a monovalent halogenated hydrocarbon group, or a monovalent group having a heterocyclic structure.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to methods and systems for synthesis of bridged-hydropentacene, hydroanthracene and hydrotetracene from the precursor compounds pentacene derivatives, tetracene derivatives, and anthracene derivatives. The invention further relates to methods and systems for forming thin films for use in electrically conductive assemblies, such as semiconductors or photovoltaic devices.
