Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direction detection element capable of being miniaturized and thinned down and accurately detecting the direction of incident light, and a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: Four rectangular contact pads 201-204 are respectively arranged on four PIN photodiodes formed on a substrate. Among the contact pads 201-204, four walls 301-304 radially extended at an angle of 90 degrees to each other with a reference point P as a center are provided. A recess 10 is formed along one side of the walls 301-304 and a groove 11 is formed along the other side and the side around an end part. Rectangular light receiving areas 101-104 of the PIN photodiodes are respectively formed so as to be adjacent through the recess 10 to one side of the walls 301-304. By curving the walls 101-104 along the recess 10, the walls 101-104 are vertically erected.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detector for an electric wave arrival direction detecting system and its control method, allowing accurate detection of the direction of the maximum received signal strength at all times. SOLUTION: Electric waves of transmission pulses emitted by a transmitter 1 are received while changing the direction of a receiving beam of the electric wave arrival direction detector 10 over all azimuth angles in detecting the maximum received signal strength, thereby, an electric wave arrival direction is detected. Herein, the pulse duration of the transmission pulses are set to be not shorter than a processing time period for receiving the electric waves while changing the direction of the receiving beam of the detector 10 over all azimuth angles in detecting the maximum received signal strength. A controller 35 of the detector 10 detects the rise of the transmission pulses and detects the electric wave arrival direction by receiving the electric waves while changing the direction of receiving beam of a detecting device over all azimuth angles since a detection point, in detecting the maximum received signal strength.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the load from concentrating on the specific printer and enable to reflect the request of the client side on choosing the printer. SOLUTION: When the printing demand which contains the printing information and the information on the request order is given from the client 12a, the printer server 14 detects the amount of load on each printer 16a-16c and decides the priority order presumptively only on the basis of the detected load amount. Then, the printer server 14 performs fixed arithmetic processing on the order shown by the request order information and the order decided presumptively, and selects the printer to use practically based on the result of the arithmetic operation. When the selected printer and the printer requested the highest priority on the client 12a correspond, the printer server 14 srarts printing promptly by the selected printer. On the other hand, in case both printers do not correspond, the permission demand of the printing is outputted to the client 12a by the selected printer, and the printing is started when the printing is permitted.

Then, a speech recognition device 4 classifies the inputted speech signals into one of a plurality of prescribed kinds and recognizes them, and on the basis of the speech- synthesized speech signals of the plurality of speakers, the parameter learning control part 20 learns conversion parameters for processing a plurality of feature conversions in feature conversion parts 10-1 to 10-K, and the parameters of a recognition part including a plurality of discriminant functions in discriminant function units 11-1 to 11-K so that the error probability of the speech recognition is minimized.

The server specifies each user by an ID number and specifies the location of the user to thereby display each user on a wide area display screen.
