SOLUTION: This wide area monitoring system 10 uses many compound sensors 12. A compound sensor 12 includes a camera 22, an infrared sensor 26, a tag sensor 28 and a sound sensor 30, mainly photographs a facial image of a user 32 and detects the ID number of an ID tag carried by the user 32. The compound sensor 12 is arranged, in respective zones, closely in a significant zone and sparsely in the other areas. Video data and ID data from the respective compound sensors 12 are collected by a server. The server specifies each user by an ID number and specifies the location of the user to thereby display each user on a wide area display screen. In other words, the android performs physiological movements like blink or breathing and habitual movement like touching hair. The moving action is instructed to the robot 14 on the basis of the calculated occurrence provability.
