    Abstract: PURPOSE: A refrigerator and a control method thereof is provided to convert a fridge chamber to a refrigerating chamber or to switch off by maximally obtaining storage space of the fridge chamber without consumption of additional energy. CONSTITUTION: A refrigerator and a control method comprises a refrigerating chamber, a transition room(13), a cool air supply structure, a transition room damper apparatus(80), and a fridge damper apparatus. The transition room is installed in order to include much smaller size than the refrigerating chamber in the upper side of the refrigerating chamber, and a purpose varies in one between freezing, cooling and off. The cool air supply structure comprises a compressor, a condenser, an evaporator, an expansion valve, a ventilation fan, a transition room output fluid line(70), and a refrigerating chamber output fluid line(71). The transition room output fluid line guides cool air generated in the evaporator into the transition room. The refrigerating chamber output fluid line guides the cool air generated in the evaporator into the refrigerating chamber. The transition damper apparatus is installed in order to control supply of the cool air to the transition room. The fridge damper apparatus is installed in the refrigerating chamber in order to control the supply of the cool air to the refrigerating chamber.
