    Abstract: An apparatus and a method for transmission in an OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) communication system are provided to transmit data by modulating the data transmitted to each repeater into signals with different amplitudes and different phases. A base station(100) selects a reference repeater(110) and a cooperation repeater(120) and then transmits data to the selected repeaters. The reference repeater receives the data from the base station, and modulates phase and signal amplitude of the data using a modulation coefficient corresponding to the reference repeater and then transmits the data to a destination terminal through space overlapping. The cooperation repeater receives the data from the base station, and modulates phase and signal amplitude of the data using a modulation coefficient corresponding to the cooperation repeater and then transmits the data to a destination terminal through space overlapping. A terminal(150) detects the data from the reference repeater and the cooperation repeater through maximum likelihood(ML) detection.
