PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for compensating symbol synchronization of an OFDM receiving system are provided to reduce probability of generation of delay of window synchronization with respect to OFDM symbol. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for compensating symbol synchronization of an OFDM receiving system includes a symbol synchronization estimator(211) for estimates symbol synchronization from an OFDM signal, a judgement value calculator(213) for calculating a judgement value using the symbol synchronization estimation value, and a comparator(215) for comparing the judgement value with a threshold value. The apparatus further includes an average value calculator(214) for calculating an average value using the symbol synchronization estimation value, and a corrector(212) for correcting the average value to compensate symbol synchronization according to a correction signal from the comparator.

PURPOSE: An add-compare-select(ACS) and trellis-coded-modulation decoder using the acs are provided to prevent an overflow phenomenon due to cumulation of path metric values and estimate a channel state and a bit error rate by using the normalization function and the error monitoring function. CONSTITUTION: An adder(122) adds a cumulative path metric value of a current state to a branch metric value. A minimum value table(121) is used for storing a cumulative path metric minimum value. A subtracter(123) is used for subtracting an output value of the minimum value table(121) from an output value of the adder(122). A selector(124) selects one from an output value of the subtracter(123) and the output value of the adder(122). A comparator(125) is used for comparing a selected value of the selector(124) with a cumulative path metric value of the next state of the second survival path metric memory portion. A selector(126) outputs the selected value of the selector(124) and a smaller value of the cumulative path metric values of the next state to the cumulative path metric value of the next state.

PURPOSE: A disaster broadcast providing apparatus and a method thereof are provided to provide a disaster broadcast service only in an area where a disaster situation is generated. CONSTITUTION: A control unit of a monitoring unit relays a digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) signal to a broadcast receiver which is in a signal reaching range. The control unit receives one or more data which are measured in a sensor which is installed in a specific location. The disaster situation determining unit of the monitoring unit determines a disaster situation based on the one or more data. A wake-up generating unit generates a disaster broadcast signal and a wake-up signal in order to wake up the broadcast receiver which is in a broadcast termination mode when a disaster situation is generated (S612). A wake-up synthesizing unit transmits the disaster broadcast signal and the wake-up signal by disconnecting the relay of the DMB broadcast signal (S614). PURPOSE: A data signal transmitting method and an apparatus thereof using a multiple antenna are provided to increase transmission efficiency of main data and to increase transmission speed of sub data in a diversity technique. CONSTITUTION: A transmission system obtains a main data signal and a sub data signal(S1010). The transmission system encodes and modulates the main data signal and the sub data signal(S1020). The transmission system performs diversity coding of the main data signal and the sub data signal(S1030). The transmission system synthesizes the main data signal and the sub data signal(S1040).

PURPOSE: A transmitter, a transmitting method, repeating installation and a repeating method are provided to improve efficiency to use frequency bandwidth by uniting an additional signal used for a second wireless communications method with electric wave bandwidth used for a first wireless communications method. CONSTITUTION: A first signal generator(110) generates a transmission signal through a first wireless communications method. A second signal generator(120) generates an additional signal used for a second wireless communications method which is different from a first wireless communications method. A combiner(130) unites the additional signal with the transmission signal. A transmit unit(150) transmits the signal to the transmission bandwidth of the first wireless communications method. The additional signal detects a radio channel environment in which the signal is transmitted.

PURPOSE: A magnetic discrimination information attachment device and a method thereof are provided to add the separate magnetic discrimination information in the signal received from a sending station. CONSTITUTION: A receiver(100) receives the carrier signal from a transmission station within a DAB(Digital Audio Broadcasting) series transmission system. A detection unit(310) and a generating unit(320) searches null symbol position from the received carrier signal. A detection unit and the generating unit add the magnetic discrimination information signal. A detection unit and the generating unit process the received carrier signal by one type among the RF(Radio Frequency) type, and the IF(Intermediate Frequency) type and base band(Baseband) type.
