Abstract: An idle stop method is provided to improve the fuel efficiency and performance of a vehicle by adjusting the maintaining and releasing states of an idle stop state considering the operation state of a brake and the position of a transmission. An idle stop method is applied to a hybrid vehicle, enters an idle stop state when the speed of the vehicle decreases under a predetermined speed by the operation of a brake and an engine is stopped, and releases the idle stop state when the operation of the brake is released and the engine is re-operated. The idle stop method includes the steps of: detecting the position of a transmission lever(102,104); and detecting the operation state of a brake(105). The idle stop state is not released when the transmission lever is located at an N-range even though the operation of the brake is released after entering the idle stop state.

A vehicle upper arm structure includes an upper arm(10), a controller(20), and an elastic portion(30). The controller receives and calculates the present speed of a vehicle sensed by a vehicle speed sensor, which is installed at the vehicle. The controller controls the actuating portion by the calculated result. The elastic portion is coupled with a support member, which is installed at the actuating portion. The elastic portion is elastically transformed by the operation of the actuating portion. The actuating portion is a hydraulic actuator.
