    Abstract: M-Type ferrites of the formula AFe12O19, Me2Y-type ferrites of the formula A2Me2Fe12O22 or spinel-type ferrites of the formula MeFe2O4, where A is Ba, Sr, Pb and/or Ca and Me is Zn, Mn, Co, Cu, Fe(II) and/or 1/2(Li(I)+Fe(III)), are prepared by a process wherein iron(II) sulfate hydrate is dehydrated and oxidized and then mixed with sodium carbonate and/or potassium carbonate and salts and/or oxides of other A and/or Me cations required in addition to Fe(III) for ferrite formation, the mixture is heated at from 700 DEG to 1,200 DEG C., and the resulting ferrite is isolated by leaching with water.

    Abstract: A process for the preparation of finely divided ferrites of the general formula MeFe2O4 (I) where Me=aMn+bNi+cZn+dCo+eFe(II), and the atomic weight ratios a, b, c, d and e are each from 0 to 1 and their sum is 1, or M12Me12Fe12O22 (II) where M1 is barium, strontium, calcium and/or lead, and Me1 is divalent manganese, copper, iron, cobalt, nickel, zinc, magnesium and/or equimolar amounts of lithium and trivalent iron, or M2(Me2Ti)xFe12-2xO19 (III) where M2 is barium or strontium, Me2 is zinc, nickel and/or cobalt and x is from 0 to 2.0, wherein the salts required for the particular composition are mixed with sodium carbonate and/or potassium carbonate, the mixture obtained is heated at 700 DEG to 1200 DEG C., and the resulting ferrite is then isolated by leaching with water.

    Abstract: Multimetal oxide compsn. of formula (I) is new: (A)p (B)q (I): A = Mo12VaX bX cX dX eX fX gOx (co-phase); B = X 12CuhHiOy (key phase); X = W, Nb, Ta, Cr and/or Ce; X = Cu, Ni, Co, Fe, Mn and/or Zn; X = Sb and/or Bi; X = Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs and/or H; X = Mg, Ca, Sr and/or Ba; X = Si, Al, Ti and/or Zr; X = Mo, W, V, Nb and/or Ta; a = 1-8; b = 0.2-5; c = 0-23; d, g = 0-50; e = 0-2; f = 0-5; h = 4-30; i = 0-20; x, y = values depending on the valency and content of elements other than O; p, q = values other than O, with the ratio p/q = 160:1 to 1:1. The A and B fractions are each in the form of 30 zones, which differ in chemical compsn. from their local surroundings, and the relative distribution of the A and B zones is as in a mixt. of finely-divided A and finely-divided B. Also claimed are multimetal oxide compsns. of wolframite structural type, of formulae (II), (III), (IV) and (V): in (II), 1/(A+B+C+D+E) = 0.7-1.3; F = 0-1; and B+C+D+E = over 0 to 1. In (III), 1/(A+B+C) = 0.7-1.3; A, B, C all = more than O and B+C = at most 1; In (IV), 1/(A+B) = 0.7-1.3; A, B both = more than O and B = at most 1; In (V), 1/(A+C) = 0.7-1.3; A, C both more than O and C at most 1.
