Abstract: Empleo de al menos un poliuretano que contiene incorporado a) menos un diisocianato, b) al menos un politetrahidrofurano con 2 átomos de hidrógeno activos por molécula, y c) al menos un compuesto de la fórmula general I R1 ¿ Z1 (I), donde R1 representa alquilo con 8 a 30 átomos de carbono, alquenilo con 8 a 30 átomos de carbono, aril-alquilo con 6 a 22 átomos de carbono o aril-alquenilo con 6 a 22 átomos de carbono, presentando los grupos alquenilo 1, 2, 3 o 4 dobles enlaces no adyacentes, y Z1 representa OH, SH o NHR2, representando R2 hidrógeno, alquilo con 1 a 6 átomos de carbono o cicloalquilo con 5 a 8 átomos de carbono, adicionalmente al menos un componente que es seleccionado entre d) polisiloxanos con al menos dos átomos de halógeno activos por molécula, e) compuestos diferentes a a) a d) con un peso molecular en el intervalo de 56 a 600, que contienen dos átomos de hidrógeno activos por molécula, y mezclas de los mismos, como componente de una composición de fase homogénea o heterogénea, que contiene, referido al peso total de la composición, un 20 a un 99, 9 % en peso de al menos un compuesto insoluble en agua, líquido a 20ºC, para la modificación de propiedades reológicas de esta composición.

Abstract: Aqueous copolymer dispersions are obtained by copolymerization of (A) hydrophilic N-vinyl monomers with a maximum polymerisation rate (MPR) above pH 7 and (B) hydrophobic mono-unsaturated monomers with an MPR below pH 7 in presence of radical starters and with the pH controlled to fall by 2-5 units from start to finish. A process for the production of aqueous copolymer dispersions by radical polymerisation in an aqueous medium containing 10-90 wt% hydrophilic monomer(s) (A) with an N-vinyl group, showing an MPR at pH values above 7, 10-90 wt% mono-unsaturated hydrophobic monomer(s) (B) showing an MPR at pH values below 7 and 0.01-20 wt% water-soluble and/or -insoluble radical starter(s). In this process the pH is controlled during polymerisation so that it decreases by 2-5 units between the beginning and end of the reaction. An Independent claim is also included for aqueous copolymer dispersions obtained by this process and copolymers obtained by drying the dispersions.

Abstract: A copolymer consisting of the following monomers is used as a solubilizing agent: (a) 5-99 wt.% of at least one N-vinyl carboxamide (I), (b) 1-95 wt.% of at least one monomer with a hydrophobic group, and (c) 0-94 wt.% of at least one other comonomer. A copolymer consisting of the following monomers is used as a solubilizing agent: (a) 5-99 wt.% of at least one N-vinyl carboxamide of formula (I), (b) 1-95 wt.% of at least one monomer with a hydrophobic group, and (c) 0-94 wt.% of at least one other comonomer. R , R = H or 1-6C alkyl. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a composition containing at least one water-insoluble ingredient and at least one copolymer as above; (2) use of the copolymer as a protective colloid, especially for stabilizing oil-in-water emulsions.
