    Abstract: Poromeric web materials are continuously manufactured by applying to a thin layer of ice crystals a textile fibrous structure and an aqueous solution or dispersion of A. polyethylenically unsaturated monomers having at least two polymerizable double bonds or mixtures of at least 0.1 percent w/w of such polyethylenically unsaturated monomers and monoethylenically unsaturated copolymerizable monomers and optionally high molecular weight polymers, or B. monoethylenically unsaturated monomers and high polymers having molecular weights of more than 10,000, Cooling the whole to such an extent that at least 50 percent of the water Crystallizes, irradiating the solidified structure with electromagnetic radiation having a wavelength of less than 0.70 .mu.m to cause polymerization of the monomers, causing the structure to thaw, removing the material from the support and optionally washing the removed material, separating it from the water and finally drying it.

    Abstract: The process of making poromeric materials which comprises impregnating webs of fibrous material with aqueous liquids containing olefinically unsaturated monomers which can be polymerized using redox catalysts, and, if desired, high polymeric plastics in dissolved, emulsified or dispersed form, freezing the webs of fibrous materials impregnated with the aqueous liquids, polymerizing the monomers using redox catalysts and thawing out and separating out the water and any residual monomer from the resulting poromeric materials. These poromeric materials are suitable as floor coverings, insulating materials, leather substitutes and coating materials.

The preparation is administered in a shape of a tablet, a granule, a suppository, an ointment, a solution, etc., by an oral, hypoglottis, oral cavity, pulmonary artery or pernasal administration, or an administration through ocular-mucous membrance.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter aid used for filtering an aqueous liquid, having a good filtering action, and suited for precoat filtration. SOLUTION: A method for filtering an aqueous liquid is provided. The method is one comprising filtering the liquid in the presence of a filter aid, wherein the filter aid contains at least one water-insoluble, substantially nonswellable, particulate polymer of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer, and the polymer contains, in the form of a copolymer, at least 20 wt.%, based on the entire monomer weight, 3-6C α,β-monoethylenically unsaturated monocarboxylic acid.
