    Abstract: The compounds are used as herbicides, as plant desiccators/defoliants. They have the formula where R1 is H, C1-C4 alkyl, C1-C4 halogenalkyl; R2 is cyano, C1-C4 alkyl, C1-C4 halogenalkyl, C1-C4 alkoxy, C1-C4 halognalkoxy, C1-C4 alkylthio, C1-C4 halogenalkylthio, C1-C4 alkylsulphynyl, C1-C4 halogenalkylsulphynyl, C1-C4 alkylsulphonyl, or C1-C4 halogenalkylsulphonyl; R3 is H, halogen, CN, nitro, C1-C4 alkyl or C1-C4 halogenalkyl; R4 means H, halogen, R5 is H, CN, halogen, C1-C4 alkyl, C1-C4 halogenalkyl, C1-C4 alkoxy or C1-C4 halogenalkoxy; Z is the group of -N = C(XR6)-O- or -N=C(XR6)-S- which is bound by the nitrogen, oxygen or sulphur to alpha; X is chemical bound, oxygen, sulphur, -SO- or -SO2-, -NH- or -N(R7)-; R6 & R7 mean C1-C4 alkyl, Ci-C6 halogenalkyl, cyano-C1-C4 alkyl, hydroxy-C1-C4 alkyl, C3-C6 alkenyl, cyano-C3-C6 alkenyl, C3-C6 halogenalkenyl, C3-C6 alkynyl, cyano-C3-C6 alkynyl, C3-C6 halogenalkynyl, C1-C4 alkoxy-C1-C4 alkyl, C1-C4 halogen-alkoxy- C1-C4 alkyl, C3-C4 alkenylalkoxy- C1-C4 alkyl, C3-C4 alkynylalkoxy- C1-C4 alkyl, C3-C8 cycloalkoxy- C1-C4 alkyl, amino- C1-C4 alkyl, C1-C4 alkylamino C1-C4 alkyl, di (C1-C4 alkyl)amino- C1-C4 alkyl, C1-C4 alkyl, C1-C4 alkylthio- C1-C4 alkyl, C1-C4 halogenalkylthio cicualkyl, C3-C4 alkenylthio- C1-C4 alkyl, C3-C4 alkynylthio- C1-C4 alkyl, C1-C4 alkylsulphynyl- C1-C4 alkyl, C1-C4 halogensulphynyl- C1-C4 alkyl, C3-C4 alkenylsulphynyl- C1-C4 alkyl, C3-C4 alkynylsulphynyl- C1-C4 alkyl, C1-C4 alkylsulphonyl- C1-C4 alkyl, C1-C4 halogenalkylsulphonyl- C1-C4 alkyl, C3-C4 alkenylsulphonyl- C1-C4 alkyl, C3-C4 alkynylsulphonyl- C1-C4 alkyl, hydroxycarbonyl- C1-C4 alkyl, C1-C4 alkoxycarbonyl- C1-C4 alkyl group which can be substituted with CN or C1-C4 alkoxycarbonyl group, (C1-C4 alkyl)thiocarbonyl- C1-C4 alkyl, aminocarbonyl- C1-C4 alkyl, C1-C4 alkylaminocarbonyl- C1-C4 alkyl, di(C1-C4 alkyl)-aminocarbonyl- C1-C4 alkyl, di(C1-C4 alkyl)phosphonyl- C1-C4 alkyl, C1-C4 alkoxyimino- C1-C4 alkyl, C3-C4 alkynyloxyimino- C1-C4 alkyl optionally substituted C3-C8 cycloalkyl, C3-C8 cycloalkyl, phenyl, phenyl- C1-C4 alkyl, 3- to 7-member heterocyclyl or heterocyclyl- C1-C4 alkyl where every cycloalkyl or heterocyclic ring can contain CO- or CS- as a member in the ring; when X means chemical bond -O-, -S-, -NH- or -N(R7)-, R6 can also mean C1-C4 alkylcarbonyl, C1-C4 halogenalkylcarbonyl, C1-C4 alkoxycarbonyl, C1-C4 alkylsulphonyl or C1-C4 halogenalkylsulphonyl; when X means simple chemical bond R6 can also mean CN, SH, amino, halogen, -CH2-CH(halogen)-R8, -CH=CH-R8 or -CH=C(halogen)-R8 where R8 is COOH, C1-C4 alkoxycarbonyl, C1-C4 alkylthiocarbonyl, CONH2, C1-C4 alkylaminocarbonyl and di(C1-C4 alkyl) aminocarbonyl or di(C1-C4 alkyl) phosphonyl; or R6 & R7 optionally mean the substituted chain 1.3-propylene, tetramethylene, pentamethylene or ethyleneoxyethylene.
