    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a stable image of high quality by using a polymer material containing a conductive powder as a conductive member and moveover, dispersing silica fine particles in the polymer material. CONSTITUTION: The developer roller 1 consists of a shaft 2 of a good conductive material such as a metal and an elastic layer 3 (conductive member) of an elastic material to which conductivity is imparted. The conductive member 3 consists of a polymer material containing a conductive powder, and further, silica fine particles are dispersed in the polymer material. For example, an elastomer or formed material such as polyurethane and EPDM is used as the base material, and a conductive powder such as carbon black, metal or metal oxide is added to the base material to control the conductivity to a medium resistance region which is the optimum for the use. Further, by using positive charge silica having amino groups on the surface as the silica particles, the resistance can be more stably controlled.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To prevent a failure such as the contamination of a photoreceptor, to obtain a high-quality image without uneven density and surface fogging and to prevent image quality from being deteriorated even in long-term use. CONSTITUTION: This developing roller 1 is constituted by forming an elastic layer 3 having conductivity on the outer periphery of a good conductive shaft 2, and it visualizes an electrostatic latent image by carrying non-magnetic one- component developer on the surface of the elastic layer 3, forming the thin layer of the developer, and coming in contact with a latent image holding body holding the electrostatic latent image on its surface in such a state. The elastic layer 3 has a resin component which is non-contaminative to the latent image holding body and does not contain conductive powder on its surface. Besides, it satisfies relation being log (R2 /R1 )

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain safety such as enough heat resistance and weather resistance and to facilitate miniturization of devices such as an electrophotographic device and an electrostatic recording device by specifying the remaining rate of fracture elongation of a conductive elastic material after heating according to JISK6301 under specified heating conditions. CONSTITUTION:This conductive elastic material is used as the main material of a conductive member such as an electrifying member, transferring member, developing member and cleaning member used for an electrophotographic device, electrostatic recording device, and the like. The remaining rate of fracture elongation of this material after heating according to JISK6301 under heating conditions of 170 deg.C for 50 hours is specified to >=50%, preferably to >=60%, and more preferably to >=70%. The main material of the conductive elastic material is not limited, and fluororubber, silicone rubber, ethylene-propylene rubber EPM, ethylene-propylene-diene ternary copolymer rubber EPDM, acryl rubber, epichlorohydrin rubber can be used. These materials may be used singly or in the mixture of two or more kinds.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a non-contamination developing roller having a proper hardness and a small compression permanent set as the whole developing roller by forming an elastic layer of two, or more elastic layers mainly constituted of EPDM. CONSTITUTION:The elastic layer 3 formed on the outer circumference of a shaft 2 having good conductivity is formed of two, or more elastic layers which are mainly constituted of EPDM. It is preferable that the hardness of the elastic layer 3 used for the outermost layer is 45 deg. to 70 deg. by a JIS-A scale, when the hardness is too large, the developing roller 1 is not satisfactorily brought into tight contact with a photoreceptor drum, meanwhile, when the hardness is too small, the compression permanent set is increased, as a result, the defective image is induced. It is preferable that the hardness of the elastic layer 3' used for the layers other than the outermost layer is 30 deg. to 50 deg. by the JIS-A scale, when the hardness is too large, the developing roller 1 is not satisfactorily brought into tight contact with the photoreceptor drum, meanwhile, when the hardness is too small, it is impossible to maintain the developing roller as it is in terms of a shape.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide an electroconductive coating which is little in moisture absorption and dependence of electric resistance on surroundings, and is improved in dielectric strength and dimensional stability, by containing an electroconductive material and a specific binder. CONSTITUTION:A polyol component mainly comprising polytetramethylene oxide is reacted with an isocyanate component to obtain a binder comprising a polyurethane having a no.-average mol.wt. of 5,000 to 200,000 and a wt.- average mol.wt. of 5,000 to 200,000. 100 pts.wt. binder is blended with 0.1-60 pts.wt. electroconductive material, and, if necessary, a leveling agent, a dispersing assistant, a defoaming agent, etc., to obtain an electroconductive coating. A base material such as an electroconductive rubber is coated with the electroconductive coating to obtain an electroconductive member having a thickness of 1 to 1,000mum.

In this case, the content of resin excluding copolymer nylon is preferably less than 50wt.%, especially 5 to 30wt.%. As resin excluding copolymer nylon, polyester, phenolic resin, etc., can be listed. The melting point of copolymer nylon is preferably 120 deg.C or lower, especially 90 to 110 deg.C.

In addition, the resistance value changes relatively gently in accordance with the amt. of the addition in the case of the control of the surface resistance by the addition of the conductive particles and, therefore, the sure control to the desired resistance value is possible. The electrostatic charging member is thus surely produced without variation.
