Abstract: PURPOSE:A catalyst for producing polyurethane which is odorless and has a moderate activity and excellent skin formability, comprising a dimethylethanolamine/ethylene oxide adduct. CONSTITUTION:The compound of the formula (wherein n is 3-4) is used as a catalyst for producing polyurethane. The amount of the catalyst used is preferably in the range of about 0.01-4pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. polyol used in the production of polyurethane. This catalyst may be used in combination with triethylenediamine or an organotin compound which is usually used in the production of polyurethane. The compound of the formula can be easily produced by an addition reaction between 1mol of dimethylethanolamine and 2-3mol of ethylene oxide.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a low density polyurethane foam of 20 kg/m3 or lower density, having good adhesion with an adherend without shrinking of the foam or formation of voids inside for a formulation using abundant water as a foaming agent, capable of producing the polyurethane foam in good conditions of working environment reducing bad smell due to a catalyst for producing polyurethane. SOLUTION: This method for producing a polyurethane foam having 20 kg/m3 or lower density comprises reacting a polyol component with an isocyanate component in the presence of a catalyst for producing polyurethane, a foaming agent and a foam stabilizer, wherein the catalyst comprises a tertiary amine expressed by the formula (I) (where n is an integer of 2 to 4) and an imidazole compound expressed by the formula (II) (where R1 represents a C1-6 linear or branched alkyl group or a C1-6 linear or branched hydroxyalkyl group; and R2 represents a hydrogen atom, a C1-6 linear or branched alkyl group or a C1-6 linear or branched hydroxyalkyl group).

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cross-linked resin excellent in properties such as strengths and stability against various solvents by cross-linking a polymer having tert. amino groups in the molecular skeleton and having hydroxyl groups at both molecular terminals with a hydrocarbon having an anionic leaving group in the molecule. SOLUTION: A polymer of a compound represented by formula I (wherein R1 is a 1-24C alkyl or an aralkyl; m is 3-50 on the weight average; R2 is a 2-20C alkylene, an alicyclic alkylene, an aralkylene or the like) is cross-linked with a compound represented by the formula: R3 (-X)n (wherein R3 is an n-valent hydrocarbon group; X is an anionic leaving group; and n is an integer of 2 or greater) (e.g. 1,6-dibromohexane). The tert. alcohol is obtained by for example reacting a dihydric alcohol with a prim. amine. The dihydric alcohol is exemplified by 1,3-butanediol, and the prim. amine is exemplified by methylamine.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyurethane foam having excellent packing properties, heat insulating properties and low-temperature dimensional stability by using a specific polyol component and a fluorocarbon substitute as a blowing agent without utilizing a catalyst having strong irritating odor such as tertiary amine. CONSTITUTION:(A) A polyisocyanate compound, (B) a polyol component at least partially composed of a tertiary amino alcohol of the formula (R1 is 3-4C straight-chain alkylene, arylene, etc.; R2 is 1-9C straight-chain alkylene ; R3 and R4 are 1-4C straight-chain alkyl; (n) is average degree of polymerization and is 2-50) and (C) a blowing agent selected from chlorodifluoromethane, 1,1,1- trichlorodifluoroethane, 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane, 1,1,2,2,2-pentafluoroethane and 1,1-difluoroethane are used to give the objective product. The compound of the formula is preferably obtained by reacting a diol such as 1,3-butanediol with a primary amine such as methylamine in the presence of a catalyst consisting essentially of copper-noble metal.
