    Abstract: PURPOSE:The titled composition having improved moisture retention properties, capable of providing hair with wet and soft finish with small hair damage after shampoo, comprising a cationic keratin derivative. CONSTITUTION:The titled composition comprising a cationic keratin derivative as peptide. The cationic keratin derivative is obtained by cutting, washing, and pretreating a keratin substance, e.g., wool, feather, hair, etc., reducing the prepared matter (with a reducing agent, e.g., 2-mercapto ethanol, etc.) directly or after hydrolyzing it with an enzyme, etc., subjecting a disulfide bond (-S-S) in the keratin substance to cleavage to give a sulfhydryl group (-SH), adding groups shown by the formulas I-III and a cationic agent of the quaternary ammonium salt type containing a quaternary nitrogen, to form a group such as one shown by the formula IV. The amount of the derivative blended is 0.1- 5wt%.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare a hair rinse composition having excellent hair conditioning effect, by using a cationic surface-active agent in combination with a specific derivative of keratin decomposition product. CONSTITUTION:A composition containing (A) a cationic surface-active agent, pref. a quaternary ammonium slat of formulaI(one or two of R1-R4 are 8- 20C long-chain alkyl or long-chain hydroxyalkyl, and the others are 1-3C alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, or benzyl; X is halogen or alkyl), e.g. distearyldimethylammonium chloride and (B) a derivative of decomposed keratin, selected from the group consisting of (i) hydrolyzed keratin (the product obtained by hydrolyzing keratin with an acid, an alkali, etc.), (ii) alkali metal salt of oxidative decomposition product of keratin, and (iii) alkali metal salt of the derivative (e.g. formula II) at the thiol group of the reducive decomposition product of keratin. The amounts of the components (A) and (B) in the whole composition are 0.01-10wt% and 0.1-5wt%, respectively.
