Abstract: The invention relates to a method to be carried out when operating a microscope and/or for displaying an object captured with a microscope or parts of an object captured with a microscope. In a first step, a substitute of the object is displayed on the display screen or on a further display. Then at least one manipulation is carried out on the substitute and/or on the display of the substitute with the aid of an input means and at least one display parameter is derived for the display of the object or the part of the object from the manipulation and/or at least one microscope control parameter is derived from the manipulation. Finally, the object or the part of the object is displayed taking into account the derived display parameter and/or the derived microscope control parameter.
