    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase a productivity and a maintainability by preventing a cap member 68 from being interfered with a head bolt while preventing the dimensions of a cylinder head 4 and an engine 1 from being increased when a VVT53 is disposed on the intake and exhaust camshafts 47 and 48 of the engine 1 and an OCV78 is disposed in the integral cap member 68 of the No.1 journal bearing part 49 of the cylinder head 4. SOLUTION: The cap member 68 is disposed so as to come into contact with a pair of right and left side head bolt through holes 51 at the front end part of a cylinder head on the front side of an engine in plan view, and cam cap parts 69 and 69 on both right and left sides are tightened to a head side bearing part 49 with two cap bolts 73 and 73. An OCV storage part 79 is provided on the inner side of the right and left side cam cap parts 69 so as to be swelled from the cam cap part 69 to the rear side of the engine, and the OCV78 stored vertically in the OCV storage part 79 is positioned so as to be held by the right and left side head bolt through holes 51 in plan view.

The axial widths of the cams 11 and the cam followers 19 are different from each other, and the corner parts of the cam surfaces on the side where it is formed to be narrower, are rounded so as to have arcuate parts 19a, 19b.

CONSTITUTION:In an engine E, radii of curvatures of cam surfaces of a first and a second oscillating cams 13, 14 are set larger at their portions being in contact with a first and a second intake cams 11, 12 when an intake valve lifting rate is large. A surface pressure is thus reduced for improving abrasion resistance. When lifting rates of the first and second oscillating cans 13, 14 is large, abrasion is not generated at portions of high surface pressure being abutted against with the first and second intake cams 11, 12, and durability of a cam mechanism is improved.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a means for improving durability of a support mechanism of oscillating cams with a valve timing control device in which the oscillating cams are oscillated by means of a rotary cam which has a tapered cam surface formed on a cam shaft. CONSTITUTION:In an engine E, a first and a second oscillating cams 13, 14 are respectively integrated with a cylindrical first and second support members 19, 20 externally fitted to an oscillating shaft 18. A front end of the first support member 20 is abutted against a second bearing part 3. A rear end of the second support member 20 is abutted against a third bearing part 4, while a rear end of the first support member 19 is abutted against a front end of the second support member 20. Even in the case that front strong thrust force is supplied to the first and second oscillating cams 13, 14, accordingly, such thrust is received by the second bearing part 3. Strong force is not applied to the portion between the members composing the support mechanism for the oscillating cams 13, 14, so that durability of the support mechanism for the oscillating cams 13, 14 is improved.

A driving cam 14 is supported by a driving cam shaft 15 to rock the rocking cam 12 as it is rotated. The opening and closing timing of the valve 10 is changed by the shift of the rocking center of the rocking cam 12.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the interference between a head cover and an intake pipe by positioning a suction valve inside each bank of a V-type engine and arranging an intake passage for other bank over each cam shaft and forming the cylinder head cover into projection form. CONSTITUTION:The intake port 6 of each bank of a V-type engine is installed inside the bank, and an intake passage 16 communicating to the intake port of other bank is arranged over the cam shaft 10 of each suction valve. The length of the intake passage can be set sufficiently long because of the arrangement of the intake passage, and supercharge is carried out by effectively utilizing the intake pulsation. Though the intake passage 16 interferes with a part of the cylinder head cover 15 in position relation, said interference can be prevented by forming the head cover part over the cam shaft 10 into a recessed part 18.
