Abstract: Techniques for supporting operation with enhanced uplink in inactive state are described. A user equipment (UE) may send an access preamble for random access while in an inactive state and may receive a message containing resources allocated to the UE. The allocated resources may be selected by a Node B from a pool of resources pre-allocated to the Node B for the enhanced uplink. The UE may send information (e.g., scheduling information and/or its UE identity) to the Node B using the allocated resources. The UE may receive an acknowledgement addressed to the UE based on the UE identity. The UE may remain in the inactive state and continue to use the allocated resources until they are de-allocated. Alternatively, the UE may transition to an active state and either continue to use the allocated resources or receive an allocation of new resources for the active state.

Abstract: Systems and methods for dynamically adjusting the transmission time inter val (TTI) for a communications system are presented. The described aspects p rovide for dynamically adjusting the TTI in a communication session between a base station or nodeB and a wireless device or user equipment between a sh orter TTI, which can provide increased data throughput and lower power consu mption, and a longer TTI, which can provide more rugged communication link c onnections. By dynamically adjusting the TTI, the communications link can be optimized for the given communication channel conditions. Determinations, b ased on indicia related to the communications system conditions, can be empl oyed in dynamic TTI adjustment. These determinations can be formed centrally at the Radio Network Controller (RNC), at the RNC supplemented with user eq uipment (UE) available information, or formed in a distributed manner betwee n the RNC and UE across a communications system.

Abstract: In a wireless communication system in which a user using a mobile equipment requests a serving cell handoff from a source cell to a target cell, the mobile equipment monitors authorization for the handoff from the target cell. At the same time, the mobile equipment can decode data from either the source cell or the target cell. Upon receipt of authorization for the handoff, the mobile equipment sends confirmation of the handoff to the target cell.

Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate pilot channel opt imization schemes for high data rate communications transmissions. I n an illustrative operation, an exemplary base station can engage one or mor e selected pilot channel control operations as part of pilot channel optimiz ation comprising a jump detection technique, operating power control on anot her channel other than the DPCCH, engaging in delayed power control, engagin g in a soft-hand off power control in the instance of a boosted pilot channe l, and resolving ambiguity in grant messages resulting from a pilot boost.

Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate increasing system capacity in a code-limited WCDMA (e.g., TDD, FDD, ~) wireless communication environment. According to one aspect, a larger code space can be defined by introducing multiple code clusters within a sector, wherein each cluster has a unique scrambling code. Codes within a cluster can have orthogonal Walsh sequences that can be assigned to user devices to facilitate communicating over a wireless network and can overlap with codes in another cluster. The unique scrambling code assigned to each cluster can ensure that duplicate Walsh sequences in another cluster in the same sector appear as a pseudo-noi se codes.
