The present technique relates to a recording apparatus, a recording method, a reproduction apparatus, a reproduction method, a program, and a recording reproduction apparatus capable of providing an apparatus at a reproduction side with information about multiple cameras used for image capturing. A recording apparatus according to an aspect of the present technique, including an encoding unit that encodes an image captured by a first camera and an image captured by a second camera according to H.264/MPEG-4 MVC, and records, as SEI of each picture constituting Non-base view video stream, the SEI including at least one of information about an optical axis interval of the first camera and the second camera, information about a convergence angle, and information about a focal length, and a recording control unit that records, to a recording medium, Base view video stream and the Non-base view video stream recorded with the SEI.

There are provided a recording device, a method, a recording medium, and a program capable of maintaining a relative position of data recorded in a data recording medium in a data recording medium. A reproduction control unit (82) controls read-out of ARI_DATA indicating attribute of data recorded on an optical disc from the optical disc. According to the ARI_DATA which has been read out, a data method judgment unit (86) judges whether the data recorded on the optical disc is a photo movie. When it is judged that the data recorded on the optical disc is a photo movie, a delete control unit (83) controls data deletion from the optical disc so that the photo movie is deleted from the optical disc. This invention may be employed to a camcoder.

Management information for managing hierarchical structure of the file system is recorded in a particular region (16) of the disc-shaped recording medium and a reserved area in the particular region (16) is handled as a special file. Information on the initial position and size in the special file and information on a current position and size in the special file are recorded in the particular region (16).

Each time one VTS is created, padding is executed and after the VTS, a recording area is assured for a new TMP_VMGI and a subsequent title VTSI, VTSM VOBS, so that each time one VTS is created, a new TMP/VMGI is recorded after the VTS so that the TMP_VMGI is recorded at the position added by the number of VTS. Thus, even if management information cannot be read in by updating exceeding the medium write intensity with respect to the recording area of the TMP_VMGI of the innermost circumference, it is possible to read in management information from a TMP_VMGI recorded in the other recording area, thereby enabling finalization.

A recording apparatus, a recording method, a recording medium, and an electronic camera for generating an index file (IF) containing file index information divided into a fixed data length portion and a variable data length portion, and recording the index file on a recording medium. The recording apparatus includes generation means for generating an IF containing a plurality of areas where a unique identifier is assigned and recording means for recording the IF onto a recording medium. The generation means divides the file attribute information into first attribute information of fixed data length and second attribute information of variable data length, correlates a plurality of first attribute information items concerning a plurality of files to each of the plurality of files, correlates a plurality of second attribute information items concerning the plurality of the first attribute information items to each of the plurality of the first attribute information items, stores them in a plurality of areas, collects the areas of fixed data length as a first area group and the areas of variable data length as a second area group, which groups are contained in the IF.

Disclosed are a recording device for recording an index file on a recording medium hierarchically containing index data on a file recorded on the recording medium, a recording method, a recording medium, and an electronic camera. The recording device comprises creation means for creating an index film composed of a plurality of regions to which unique identifiers are assigned and recording means for recording the index file on the recording medium. The creation means stores a plurality of sets of excerpted information concerning and related to respective files recorded on the recording medium in the regions and stores attribute information including first information for judging whether the regions are folders or the regions hold the excerpted information and second information for designating the folder to which the regions belong.
