Abstract: The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a board tray (7), to a tray blank feasible for the method, and to a tray obtained by the method. The method comprises moulding a blank of plastic-coated board into the tray (7) comprising a bottom (3), side walls (4), as well as a rim flange (5), the blank being compressed in a direction transverse to the tray's side walls and rim flange. According to the invention, the blank is made thinner on its side opposite to the plastic coating such that, during , the moulding process, the plastic coating double-folds at the compressed parts and stabilizes compressions (8) by becoming sealed to itself. Making the blank thinner is most conveniently effected by carving the board layer with a laser beam for having the fiber material predominantly or completely removed from where the cuts are located. As a result of the moulding process, the tray's rim flange (5) develops a smooth plastic surface which enables closing the tray hermetically with a heat-sealed cover.

El sistema (1) de molde comprende un collar (612) de elevación el cual se conecta separablemente sobre la parte superior del collar (611) básico del anillo (6) de collar de la mitad (10) de molde movible, la superficie (612a) de sello del collar (612) de elevación comprende surcos o rebajos que son más bajos que el resto del plano de la superficie de sello, por lo que la superficie o rebajos del anillo de sello pueden comprender protuberancias o patrones realzados, surcos o rebajos los cuales están sobre el plano de la superficie (612a), de sello o posiblemente que se extienden ligeramente hacia arriba del mismo; y las protuberancias o patrones sobresalientes en estos surcos o rebajos se pueden utilizar para proporcionar, sobre la orilla (50) plástica del recipiente (500), resaltos (80) o protuberancias que sobresalen del resto del plano de la orilla, surcos o rebajos los cuales están entre los resaltos y protuberancias y los cuales están en el plano de la orilla (50) o ligeramente más abajo que el resto del plano de la orilla y los cuales posiblemente comprenden patrones realzados o protuberancias.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method of providing board containers (V) with prints and a printing machine that applies the method. According to the invention, the printing machine comprises a turret head (2), with uniformly spaced radial arms (3) diverging from its rotational axis, each arm ending in a mandrel (4) that carries a container (1); and stationary stations (5, 6, 8) that are located on the path of the turret head for gripping a container, printing it by a printhead (7, 13), and removing the printed container (V). At the printing station (6), the container (1) is digital-printed by the printhead (7), past which the surface of the container is conveyed by means of a rotational motion. The container can be a conical drinking cup (1), which is ink-jet printed by the stationary printhead (7) by rotating the cup by 360° by means of the mandrel (4) that is pushed inside the cup. The cups (1) can be produced at a plant in mass-scale production runs and divided into smaller lots, which are delivered to customers and which the customers then print according to their own individual needs.
