Abstract:
In a method for forming a package, a package with the shape of a container is formed of a cardboard blank, the package having a bottom and side walls extending upwards from the bottom. At the end stage of compression molding, a rim of molding material extending sideways is molded to the upper part of the side walls when the mold is kept closed in such a way that a mold cavity corresponding to the rim is formed by moving a counter surface inside the mold backwards from a surface opposite to it, after which the molding material is introduced into the mold cavity.
Abstract:
A mould system for manufacturing a container which includes a movable mould half and a stationary mould half which are positioned opposite to each other, wherein the movable mould half includes a core plate provided with a core, a plate-like seal ring that is movable relative to the core, a seal surface which surrounds the core, and a collar ring that is movable relative to the core and the stationary mould half includes a mould plate provided with a mould cavity and a seal surface, wherein in the mould system, a plate-like insert is connected to the seal surface of the seal ring, the insert including a recess which is in contact with a front edge of the seal surface, so that it is in flow communication with molten plastic material flowing from the direction of the collar ring.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for forming a package by moulding a cardboard blank in such a manner that a margin area (2) of the blank, surrounding a middle portion (1) of the blank, is bent upwards to form side walls of the package while the middle portion forms a bottom of the package. The cardboard blank prior to moulding is provided with at least one area (4) of reduced bending stiffness being located in a transition zone (3) between the side walls and the bottom. The package is moulded from the blank so that the at least one area (4) of reduced bending stiffness is located in the bended areas between the side walls and the bottom and extend in the running direction of the bend. The invention further relates to a package and a package blank that can be used for forming said package.

Abstract:
Abstract:
The invention relates to a package for ready-prepared foods, which comprises a dish (1) containing packed food that has been cooked in the dish, and a lid heat- sealed to the rim flange (2) of the dish. Upon cooking grease lands onto the rim flange, the detriment of which caused to the sealing has in the invention been prevented by providing the rim flange with elevated ridges (3, 4) so that, upon closing the dish, a gastight sealing line is formed between the lid and the ridges. According to the invention the rim flange has two or more concentric longitudinal ridges (3) circulating the dish and transverse ridges (4), by means of which the space between two longitudinal ridges (3) has been divided into at least five compartments for diminishing the possibility of sealing leakages. In practice there can be considerably more compartments, suitably 10-200. The dish can be made of polymer- coated cardboard, the rim flange of injection-moulded plastics and the lid of polymer-coated paper so that a closure making possible the pulling off of the lid is produced during heat-sealing.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a mould system (1) for manufacturing a cardboard-based container, comprising a movable mould half (10) and a stationary mould half (20), which are located opposite to each other, the mould system (1) enabling the manufacture of a container (500) that comprises a bottom (57) pressed from a cardboard blank and walls (59) connected to the bottom, and a rim (50) that is at least partly cast of plastic and connected to the upper edge of the walls, encircling the walls, whereby the mould half (10) that is movable with respect to the stationary mould half (20) includes at least a core plate (4) provided with a core (41), a plate-like seal ring (5), which is movable with respect to the core (41) and comprises a seal surface (5a) and surrounds the core (41), and a collar ring (6), which can be adapted between the core (41) and the seal ring (5) and by which the rim (50) can be made on the container and which can be moved with respect to both the seal ring (5) and the core (41); and the stationary mould half (40) includes at least a mould plate (7) that is provided with a mould cavity (71) and a seal surface (7a). In the mould system (1) according to the invention, an insert (720) can be supported on and detachably attached to the base (71b) of the mould cavity (71) reducing the depth H of the mould cavity by its height h, so that the continuous surface (71b) of the insert (720) works as the new bottom (71b) of the mould cavity and that the length H of the part of the core (41) that penetrates inside the mould cavity sat the pressing stage of the cardboard blank can be shortened, respectively, by the height h of the insert, either by replacing the core (41) on the core plate with a shorter one or by detachably attaching to the basic part (41g) of the core (41), the length of which does not change an attachment part (41 f), the length of which can be changed, whereby the core or the attachments of the core and the inserts (720) of the base of the mould cavity, which correspond to each other, can be used to change the depth of the cardboard blank that is manufactured, i.e., the distance of the container bottom (57), which is pressed from the cardboard blank, from the upper edges of the container walls (59).
