    Abstract: PURPOSE:To precipitate a nitrogen-containing heat-resistant polymer in particulate form from its solution in an organic solvent continuously at a low cost and low energy consumption, by feeding the solution together with a precipitant to a high-speed rotary impact mill. CONSTITUTION:While a precipitant which is miscible with the nitrogen- containing heat-resistant polymer solution to be fed and is a nonsolvent for said polymer is being fed continuously to a high-speed rotary impact mill of a speed of 1,000-50,000rpm, the nitrogen-containing heat-resistant polymer solution of a concentration of 5-50wt% is fed thereto in a flow rate 0.01-2 times higher than that of the precipitant. Examples of said nitrogen-containing heat resistant polymers include polyimide, polyamide-imides, polyester-imides and polyaramids. Examples of the solvents for said polymer solutions include N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone and N,N-dimethylacetamide. Examples of said precipitants include water and aliphatic liquids (e.g., methanol and ethanol).

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyamide-imide copolymer which can show excellent heat stability and flow at 300-400 deg.C and is excellent in the balance of the properties of a molding, by combining specified three structural units. CONSTITUTION:A copolymer comprising structural units A of formula I, struc tural units B of formula II and structural units C of formula III in the following ratio. namely, the ratio of the structural units is such that 1mol of B+C is present per mol of A and 9-1mol of C is present per 1-9mol of B. In the formulae, Z is a trifunctional aromatic group in which two of the three func tional groups are bonded to adjacent carbon atoms, R1 is a 1-4C alkyl or the like, Y is a group of formula IV or the like, X is Y, -SO2 or the like, a is 1-4, b is 0 or 1-4, and c is 0, 1 or 2). The most desirable process for produc ing this copolymer is an acid chloride process in which an aromatic tricarboxylic acid chloride is reacted with an aromatic diamine.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the frictional and wear characteristics, by incorporating an aromatic polyimide resin into a non-crystalline, thermoplastic aromatic polyamide-imide resin which has excellent heat stability, etc., and contains a diphenyl ether linkage as its essential component. CONSTITUTION:60-99wt% non-crystalline, thermoplastic aromatic polyamide- imide resin (A) containing a diamine residue or diisocyanate residue consisting of 0-100mol% unit of formula I, 80-0mol% unit of formula II, and 60-0mol% unit of formula III or IV (where R1 is an alkyl of 1-4C; R2 is an alkyl of 1-4C or a halogen; X is -SO2-, -CO-, etc.; a is 1-25; b is 0 or 1-4; c is 0 or 1-2) (total residue being 100mol%) is incorporated with 40-1wt% aromatic polyimide resin (B) containing the repeating units shown by formula V (where Y is a direct linkage, -O-, etc,; Ar is an aromatic diamine residue or isocyanate residue) as its principal structural unit.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled dope useful for the production of pulp, film, or fiber having excellent strength, etc., by mixing a mixture of an aprotic polar solvent and a non-solvent with a soln. of an arom. nitrogen-contg. polymer in said aprotic polar solvent. CONSTITUTION:A mixture consisting of an aprotic polar solvent (A) and a non- solvent (B) (e.g. water or methanol) selected from among water and aliph. compds. which can not dissolve an arom. nitrogen-contg. polymer described below and has compatibility with the solvent A, is mixed with a soln. consisting of 5-50wt% arom. nitrogen-contg. polymer contg. nitrogen atoms and a unit of formula I [wherein Y is O, S, SO2, CO, C(CH3)2, CH2] in the polymer chain (e.g. a polymer of formula II or III) and the aprotic polar solvent (e.g. N-methyl-2- pyrrolidone) with stirring in such a proportion as to give a weight ratio of the solvent to the non-solvent of 100/10-60 in the resulting mixture, thus obtaining the titled dope.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the titled compsn. which exhibits excellent wear resistance in any atmosphere while retaining heat resistance and mechanical strength, by blending a specified wear resistance imparting agent with an imide resin propolymer. CONSTITUTION:The titled compsn. is obtd. by blending 60-0.1pt.wt. graphite fluoride with 40-99.9pts.wt. thermosetting resin prepolymer contg. imide groups. Though imide resins have excellent heat resistance and mechanical properties, they are inferior in wear resistance and self-lubricating properties so that they are usually modified by the addition of graphite or MoS2 to put them as a sliding material to practical use. However, there is a disadvantage that graphite or MoS2 must be added in a quantity of as large as at least 10wt%, so that mechanical strength is lowered. By using graphite fluoride as a wear resistance imparting agent, wear resistance can be imparted and retained in any atmosphere by the addition of a small quantity thereof without causing lowering in heat resistance and mechanical strength.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:A composition having improved sliding properties and heat resistance, obtained by blending an aromatic thermoplastic resin containing an amide resin and an imide resin with graphite fluoride, melting the blend under heating. CONSTITUTION:50-99.99pts.wt., preferably 60-99.9pts.wt. aromatic thermoplastic polymer containing an amide group and/or imide group is blended with 0.01- 50pts.wt., preferably 0.1-40pts.wt. graphite fluoride. (CF)n, (C2F)n, etc. may be cited as graphite fluoride, and fine powder of it having 0.1-50mu average particle diameter and 0.02-0.05 coeffcient of friction is used. The blending is carried out at 230-400 deg.C, preferably at 250-360 deg.C.
