    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an ion exchanger containing extremely little impurities and having excellent whiteness, by treating an ion exchanger with active chlorine. CONSTITUTION:An ion exchanger, particularly, ion exchange fibers are treated with active chlorine, particularly, active chlorine generated from a chlorine base bleaching agent. The active chlorine containing compound displays its effect at a concentration of about 0.01-2mol/l. Preferably, a concentration range of 0.02- 1mol/l, more preferably, 0.05-0.5mol/l is selected in view of adverse effects of reduction in the strength of the fibers or residual chlorine. The treatment is carried out at a relatively low temperature of ordinarily not higher than 100 deg.C and not lower than 0 deg.C, preferably, not higher than 90 deg.C, more preferably, not higher than 80 deg.C. Active chlorine decolorizes the ion exchanger and remove only impurities from the ion exchanger without producing any adverse effect on ion exchange groups and water content (degree of crosslinking) which are important requisites for the ion exchanger.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain excellent ion exchange fibers free from clogging by using an assemblage of continuous filament lines having ion exchange groups as a fiber adsorbing material and melt-sticking both ends thereof. CONSTITUTION:A fiber assemblage of continuous filament lines having ion exchange groups which is of a columnar or cylindrical shape of about 3-30mm. length wherein fibers are melt-stuck in both end parts is used as an adsorbing material made of fiber for exchanging of low molecular ions, adsorbing and desorbing of middle and high polymer materials, etc. If the ion exchange fibers of such specific shapes are used for the adsorbing material, clogging and pressure drop are eliminated without losing the advantages of the ion exchange fibers having high surface areas and high ion adsorbing power, etc.
