Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for supplying a curable liquid to a surface of a disk structure used for manufacturing the dichroic element used for a gyricon display. SOLUTION: A separating member 14 having the central point of rotation has a first surface 34 and second surface 36 arranged to face each other apart a spacing and a marginal region 38 in contact with both surfaces 34 and 36. The spacing between both surfaces 34 and 36 facing each other is changed by the distance on the outer periphery than the central point of rotation so as to be maximum at the central point of rotation, to decrease toward the outer side from the central point of rotation and to be minimum at the marginal region 38. The device, which has a substantially annular cup 20, spreads the liquid toward the marginal region 38 beyond the first and second surface 34 and 36 from the annular cup 20 to form a reservoir of the liquid material on the outer side of the marginal region 38 and forms a ligament from this reservoir, is provided.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for supplying a curable liquid to the surface of spinning disk structure used for manufacturing the bichrome element to be for a gyricon display. SOLUTION: The apparatus 10 for manufacturing the bichrome element provided with a separation member 14 having a first surface 34 and second surface 36 which have a central point Sc of rotation and are arranged to face each other apart a spacing and marginal regions 38 which come in contact with both of both surfaces facing each other is provided. This apparatus 10 further has devices 28 and 30 which distribute a first curable liquid 40 and second curable liquid 42 of respectively different colors to the substantial central point Sc of rotation of the first and second surfaces 34 and 36 and a device substantially uniformly spreads the liquid materials toward the marginal regions 38 beyond the first and second surfaces 34 and 36, forms the liquid material wells consisting of the regions lining up with the first and second curable liquids of the different colors on the outer side of the marginal regions 38 and form ligaments (ligatures) from these reservoirs.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position probing device that detects the identifier of an object whose position is to be probed, and has a probing system for sending a signal corresponding to the identifier. SOLUTION: An object whose position is to be probed has an object position- indicating device 10 with a display 1. When a receiver 4 of an object-probing device receives a signal for information that the position of the object regarding the receiver 4 itself is searched, a controller 3 changes the display state of the display 1, thus optically displaying the reception of the signal. The object- probing device has a power supply 2 using periphery energy as power, and the display 1 is a bi-stable display such as rotary element display device.

The reason why the control part C is able to impress a driving signal on the display 400 by using only the ambient energy is that optically anisotropic particles 424 require only little energy for the rotation. Any external power source such as battery is not connected from supplying the electric power for impressing an electric field required for driving the display 400.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tag system capable of easily performing read from a long distance by using a hand-held computer or automatically deciding the position of a tagged object by using a non-imaging indoor scanning system. SOLUTION: A laser position locating/tracking system 10 for an external activation type electronic tag 54 accurately locates and identifies the position of an indoor tagged object 50, 52 or 54. The system is provided with at least one laser base station 20 for scanning a laser beam and supports the identification and spatial positioning of the plural tags for generating data signals in response to an incident laser beam. The system 10 receives input from the laser base station 20 and preserves the state recording of the position and the information contents of the tag. The position is optionally decided by the angle position of the tag to one or more laser base stations. The tag is a passive form (not provided with an internal power source) or an active form (provided with the internal power source for supplying power to a data simultaneous communication element).

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively produce a two-color ball having a small diameter. SOLUTION: A disk 28 is rotated, and two-color slurry 14, 16 is supplied on both faces. Slurry 14, 16 is adjoined in a gathering part 36 around the disk 28 and becomes droplets 42 and these are flown in the circumference. Polymer particles and coloring matter are contained in the carrier fluid of slurry 14, 16. The droplets 42 are passed through a region which is held in a state at high temperature by heating elements 62. The carrier fluid is boiled and evaporated therein and polymer particles are dissolved and coloring matter is contained thereinto. Thereby, the droplets 42 become small two-color balls.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of improving a gylicon sheet which is one of electric paper. SOLUTION: This invention relates to an electric paper sheet using a pattern of conductive electric charge holding islands 306 mounted on an external side of a 1st plane 302 of a thin layer used for capsulizing a gylicon sheet 300. A 2nd capsule layer 304 can also be coated with a conductive material or made of a conductive material, but does not need to be patterned. The gylicon sheet 300 and two sheets of the capsule layer 302, 304 constitute a sheet of gylicon electric paper on which a picture can repeatedly be written or erased. The electric charge holding islands 306 where the 1st capsule layer 302 has been patterned receives electric charges from an external electric charge moving device. Also after the electric charge moving device is removed, the conductive electric charge holding islands 306 holds the electric charges, and applies an electric field to the gylicon sheet 300 enough to cause a change in the picture.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively form a two-color ball for a twist ball display. SOLUTION: A disk 28 is rotated and slurries 14, 16 of two colors are supplied on both sides thereof. Conductive slurries 14,16 adjoin in a gathering part 36 of the periphery of the disk 28 and become droplets 42 and these are flown in the circumference. Slurries 14, 16 contain a polymer particle and pigment in carrier fluid. The droplets 42 are passed through a region being kept in a state of high temperature by heating elements 62. The carrier fluid is boiled and evaporized therein and the polymer particle is dissolved and pigment is contained thereinto. Thereby, the droplets 42 become small two-color balls. Therein, electric pulses sent from an RF signal producer 82 are passed through the disk 28 and impressed on the slurries 14, 16 in the gathering part 36. Thereby, current flows in a capacity therein and unstability in the tip of fluid is increased and diameter of the droplets 62 is decreased and substantially spherical balls are formed.
