Abstract:
Provided is a fire detector in which an element substrate can be easily removed from and mounted into an optical case. The fire detector includes: an optical case (21); an element substrate (31), on which a light-receiving element (12) is mounted, the element substrate (31) being provided in the optical case (21); a signal line (35) passing through an introduction portion of a peripheral wall (21a) of the optical case (21), the signal line (35) being connected to the element substrate (31); and an optical cover (30) for closing an opening of the optical case (21), in which the signal line (35) is inserted into a slit (37) which is open on an upper end surface (21f) of the introduction portion of the peripheral wall (21a).

Abstract:
Systems and methods of analyzing one or more properties of a sample are disclosed. One system includes a self-contained purging device having a sample holder and one or more analyzers for analyzing one or more properties of the sample. The purging device is configured to remove sample contained within the sample holder when an analysis is complete. In one embodiment the purging device is configured via an air pump having a tube in fluid communication with an air inlet of the sample holder, wherein the air pump is configured to deliver pressurized air to the air inlet and thereby purge the sample. The pressurized air is localized ambient air, and substantially free of contaminants.
Abstract:
A surface chemistry measuring apparatus (1) includes a processor, an array of tunable infrared laser spectrometers interfacing with the processor and configured for simultaneous measurement of surface chemistry across a surface be measured (25) using a range of infrared wavelengths and a display (8) interfacing with the processor and adapted to display IR spectra of infrared wavelengths reflected from the surface to be measured (25).
Abstract:
A method and apparatus is provided for determining a property of an analyte using a sensing layer whose optical response changes with the analyte. The apparatus includes a housing with an optically transparent window for receiving the sensing layer. The window passes optical stimulation to the sensing layer and the optical response from the sensing layer. A stimulating light emitter is coupled to a first face of an optical body monolithically coupled to the window and a light detector is coupled to a second face of the optical body for receiving the response. The optical response changes as the concentration of the analyte changes. Reference molecules included in the sensing layer can provide a calibration signal to a second light detector mounted on a third face of the optical body. The first, second and third faces of the optical body are different and not coplanar.
Abstract:
A limited access space inspection system comprising: a sensing device for carrying out sensing over a region in the limited access space, a mounting for mounting the sensing device to scan about the limited access space and a scanning control unit, associated with the sensing device, for controlling the sensing device to scan about the limited access space. The device is particularly useful for improving by automation, security checks, customs checks and safety checks involving such awkward to access spaces. The sensing device may be an imaging device, or a sensor for detecting traces of chemical substances.
