Abstract:
The present invention relates to novel novolac resins obtained by coupling at least one aromatic compound (A) comprising at least two hydroxyl groups and at least one aldehyde (B) in the presence of an acid catalyst and in the presence of water and/or an organic solvent, followed by a step of alkylating the coupling resin thus obtained with at least one unconjugated diene (C), preferably containing no indene. These novolac resins are advantageously used in vulcanized and crosslinked elastomeric compositions since their viscosity, which is lower than that of the resins of the prior art, allows them to be handled easily. They are also used as adhesion promoters for improving the adhesion of rubber to reinforcing materials such as organic fibres made in particular of rayon, polyesters, polyamides or aramids, and metal cords made of steel, in particular brass steel or galvanized steel.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a hot-melt adhesive composition comprising: 20 to 80% of a blend comprising: 50 to 100% of (A), which denotes a polyamide-block graft copolymer consisting of a polyolefin backbone and at least one polyamide graft, 0 to 50% of at least one polymer (B) chosen from polyolefins and polyamides; 80 to 20% of a blend comprising at least one tackifying resin and optionally at least one product chosen from waxes, plasticizers and mineral fillers; in which: the said graft is attached to the backbone via the residues of an unsaturated monomer (X) chosen from unsaturated carboxylic acids, anhydrides of unsaturated carboxylic acids and unsaturated epoxides; the residues of the unsaturated monomer (X) are attached to the backbone by grafting or copolymerization from its double bond; the molar mass {overscore (M)}n of the grafts is between 1000 and 5000; the melting point of the grafts is between 100 and 190null C.; and the MFI of (A) is between 1 and 500 (g/10 min at 190null C. under a load of 2.16 kg). This composition has many advantages: it is processed at the usual temperatures for hot-melt adhesives, that is to say around 180null C.; it is not necessary, after application, to wait for crosslinking; it is simpler to use than two-component adhesives such as epoxy adhesives in which a hardener is necessary; and it has a markedly improved shear adhesive failure temperature (SAFT) compared with crosslinkable hot-melt adhesives.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a moisture-crosslinkable hot-melt adhesive which is composed of a polyurethane prepolymer obtained by polyaddition of at least one polyol to at least one isocyanate chosen from the group of diisocyanates trimerized as isocyanurates and reaction products of diisocyanates with water, the said prepolymer having a content of free NCO groups of between 1 and 25% by weight. The adhesive according to the invention is used for the adhesive bonding of fixing components of the Velcronull type to articles intended for hygiene.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an improved promoter system for curing resin compositions based on unsaturated polyesters. The promoter system contains at least one primary promoter which is a metallic compound, such as a cobalt salt, and at least one co-promoter which is an alkyl alkanolamine. Such an alkyl alkanolamine is usually an amino (C2-C4) alcohol, and it is present at 1-15 mole of amine per mole of equivalent cobalt metal. The use of alkyl alkanolamine reduces the level of the cobalt promoter in curing formulations with no deleterious effects on the curing performance, which leads to reduced color formation in finished products.
Abstract:
A solar-control glass that has acceptable visible light transmission, absorbs near infrared wavelength light (NIR) and reflects midrange infrared light (low emissivity mid IR) along with a preselected color within the visible light spectrum for reflected light is provided. Also provided is a method of producing the improved, coated, solar-controlled glass. The improved glass has a solar energy (NIR) absorbing layer comprising tin oxide having a dopant such as antimony and a low emissivity control layer (low emissivity) capable of reflecting midrange infrared light and comprising tin oxide having fluorine and/or phosphorus dopant. A separate iridescence color suppressing layer as described in the prior art is generally not needed to achieve a neutral (colorless) appearance for the coated glass, however an iridescence suppressing layer or other layers may be combined with the two layer assemblage provided by the present invention. If desired, multiple solar control and/or multiple low emissivity layers can be utilized. The NIR layer and the low emissivity layer can be separate portions of a single tin oxide film since both layers are composed of doped tin oxide. A method of producing the coated solar control glass is also provided.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a multilayer tube comprising, in its radial direction from the outside inwards: a first layer of vulcanized elastomer forming the outer layer, a second layer of EVOH or of an EVOH-based blend, a third layer of a blend of a polyamide (A) and a polyolefin (B) having a polyamide matrix, optionally, an inner layer of vulcanized elastomer, the layers being successive and adhering to one another in their respective contact region. It is also possible to place a tie layer between the first and second layers, and likewise between the optional inner layer and the third layer. The tube of the invention may also include a reinforcing layer of the textile type, for example made of polyester or of metal wires, the said layer being placed between the first and second layers. This reinforcing layer may be between the tie layer and the EVOH layer or between the tie layer and the outer layer or else the tie may be placed in the interstices of the reinforcing layer. The tubes of the invention may have an outside diameter of between 8 mm and 25 cm. The thickness of the EVOH layer may be between 10 and 200 nullm, that of the blend of the polyamide (A) and the polyolefin (B) having a polyamide matrix between 25 and 500 nullm, and that of the optional tie layer between 10 and 100 nullm. These tubes are used for fluids in air conditioning systems.

The present invention relates to a conductive composition comprising (i) a fluoropolymer, (ii) an electrically conductive product and (iii) a triblock copolymer ABC, the three blocks A, B and C being linked together in this order, each block being either a homopolymer or a copolymer obtained from two or more monomers, block A being linked to block B and block B to block C by means of a covalent bond or an intermediate molecule linked to one of these blocks via a covalent bond and to the other block via another covalent bond, and such that: block A is compatible with the fluoropolymer, block B is incompatible with the fluoropolymer and is incompatible with block A, block C is incompatible with the fluoropolymer, block A and block B. The invention also relates to the components manufactured with the above composition. These components may be plates, films, tubes, rods, centrifugal pump components and containers.
