Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for processing a timestamp using signature information in a physical layer are provided to improve accuracy by reducing a delay, jitter and uncertainness according to the performance of a timestamp in a physical layer. CONSTITUTION: A first timestamp processor(10) allocates signature information for indentifying a synchronization message to a transmitting message through a pseudo random number. A first timestamp processor verifies the signature information in a physical layer, and a second timestamp processor(20) verifies a pseudo random number of a message on the physical layer. Accordingly, the second timestamp processor discriminates whether or not the message is the synchronization message.

Abstract: A voice telephone subscriber interfacing method and apparatus in an optical network are provided to effectively use network resources by transmitting only data of an active POTS(Plain Old Telephone Service) subscriber terminal. An SLIC(Subscriber Line Interface Circuit)(112) provides power necessary to a POTS subscriber terminal, and transceives a call signal between the POTS subscriber terminal and an optical network termination device(100). A codec(113) converts analog signals of a plurality of voice terminals into a plurality of digital signals. A GEM(G-PON(Gigabit-Passive Optical Network) Encapsulation Method) frame allocation unit(115) inserts state information including whether the plurality of voice terminals have been activated or not into an optical communication frame for a voice service, and inserts the digital signal of an activated voice terminal, among the plurality of digital signals, into an optical communication frame for the voice service. A medium controller(120) multiplexes the optical communication frame for the voice service and optical communication frames of the plurality of packet terminals, and transmits the same to an optical line.
