Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a scintillation detector comprising a plurality of detection units coupled each other in which each detection unit sustains of its own detection area by some extent while eliminating the deadband. CONSTITUTION:A partition board 32 separates a shield case 30 into two detection units 10, 12. Each detection unit 10, 12 is provided with a scintillator plate 20 and a photomultiplier tube 16 wherein the two scintillator plates 20 are isolated optically from each other. Since the sensitivities of two detection units 10, 12 are overlapped in the center, deadband can be eliminated.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enhance the sensitivity of a radioactive surface contamination detector by enlarging the area thereof. CONSTITUTION:The detecting section 10 includes a fiber array 16 comprising a large number of scintillator fibers 14 arranged flatly. The light generated in each scintillator fiber 14 passes through a coupling part 13 and arrives at the light receiving surface of a photomultiplier tube housed in a handle section 12. This constitution enhances the detection sensitivity because no light guide is required and the area of the detector can be increased by enlarging the fiber array 16.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To evaluate a dose with high accuracy by preliminarily storing standard excretion curves due to the properties of radioactivity and calculating the standard excretion curve approximate to the measured value of the intensity of intake radioactivity in excretion to estimate real intake radioactivity. CONSTITUTION:A large number of standard excretion curves predetermined at every properties are calculated to be stored and, when there is real intake, the measured value at least at two points of time is compared with the standard excretion curves and the properties of intake radioactivity are estimated from the similar relation between both of them. Therefore, intake quantity and exposure can be accurately estimated on the basis of the standard excretion curve specified from the estimated properties of radioactivity. Since the intensity of the real intake radioactivity in excretion is measured with the elapse of time, alpha-ray and beta-ray emitting radioactivities are simultaneously discriminated and measured on the basis of the difference between emission attenuation times using the excretion and a liquid scintillator. Further, since gamma-rays of high and low energies are simultaneously discriminated and measured, the intensity of radioactivity in the excretion can be accurately measured.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To directly perform measurement regarding 1cm deep dosage equivalent and to perform this measurement correctly by providing an adjusting board made of a metal board of a specific area and low energy adjusting films formed on the adjusting board. CONSTITUTION:An adjusting board 20 is provided on a collector 14 while the collector 14 is equipped with a disc part 14b at the tip of its support 14a wherein circular adjusting boards 20a, 20b having the same area are respectively adhered to the surface and the rear of this disc part 14b and further low energy adjusting films 22a, 22b are overlappingly formed on them. Since the adjusting board 20 is made of a metal board, radiation incident to the adjusting board 20 is to generated electron beam mainly by photoelectric effect in a low energy region and by mainly by Compton effect in an intermediate energy region so that radiation corresponding to 1cm deep dosage equivalent can be measured by these functions. Thus the value of 1cm deep dosage equivalent can be directly measured and can be correctly measured.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To decide radioactivity contamination in a short time by making an advance to a next decision step when a set stepwise alarm level is exceeded and deciding that the contamination is below an alarm level when not. CONSTITUTION:A radiation monitor circuit is equipped with a detector 10 which measures the radioactivity of a body at respective parts and a timer 12 which outputs a signal at prescribed intervals of time. Further, a decision level setter 14 which sets the alarm level and stepwise alarm level for deciding the radioactivity contamination and a comparator 16 which compares the outputs of the detector 10 and setter 14 with each other are provided, and the output of the comparator 16 is supplied to a display device 18. This constitution divides a conventional measurement time into respective stages and a final alarm level is decided with stepwise alarm levels set in respective decision steps. Consequently, the decision is finished early from persons who are less contaminated, and the radioactivity contamination is measured speedily.
