Abstract: There is described a method of filtering a captured image of a drip chamber configured to allow a drop of fluid to fall within the drip chamber, the method comprising: capturing an image of the drip chamber with an image sensor; determining if the captured image contains a visual obstruction; applying a blurring function to the captured image, the blurring function configured to eliminate an amount of detail in the captured image; and determining if the captured image contains a match to a template. There is also described an apparatus comprising: an image sensor configured to capture an image of a drip chamber; and a processor operatively coupled to the image sensor, the processor being configured to: determine if the captured image contains a visual obstruction; apply a blurring function to the captured image, the blurring function configured to eliminate an amount of detail in the captured image; and determine if the captured image contains a match to a template.

The method includes the acts of: determining if a monitoring client is connected to a base through a physical connection; establishing a first communications link between the monitoring client and the base through the physical connection; updating, if necessary, the interface program on the monitoring client and the base through the first communications link; establishing a second communications link between the monitoring client and the base using the first communications link; and communicating data from the base to the monitoring client using the second communications link.

Abstract: A method for discharging fluid from a syringe and for mitigating occlusion conditions includes actuating the plunger of a syringe into a barrel. The method monitors fluid pressure within the barrel of the syringe and determines that an occlusion exists when the fluid pressure exceeds a predetermined threshold. The method actuates the plunger out of the barrel by a predetermined amount in response to the detected occlusion and actuates the plunger of the syringe into the barrel until a measured fluid pressure within the barrel of the syringe exceeds another predetermined threshold.

Each of the at least one drug library may be for use in at least one medical device.

Abstract: An apparatus, system and method for regulating fluid flow are disclosed. The apparatus includes a curved, elongated support member elastically deformable and having first and second ends. The apparatus also include an opposing support member configured to position a tube against the curved, elongated support member between the first and second ends. Deformation of the curved, elongated support member by movement of the first and second ends toward each other reduces an internal volume of the tube.
