The method includes the acts of: determining if a monitoring client is connected to a base through a physical connection; establishing a first communications link between the monitoring client and the base through the physical connection; updating, if necessary, the interface program on the monitoring client and the base through the first communications link; establishing a second communications link between the monitoring client and the base using the first communications link; and communicating data from the base to the monitoring client using the second communications link.
Abstract:
A system for delivery of a volume of infusible fluid. The system includes a controller configured to calculate a trajectory for delivering infusible fluid, the trajectory comprising at least one volume of fluid, and determine a schedule for delivering the at least one volume of fluid according to the trajectory, wherein the schedule comprising an interval and a volume of infusible fluid for delivery. The system also includes a volume sensor assembly for determining the at least one volume of fluid delivered, wherein the controller recalculates the trajectory based on the volume of fluid delivered.
Abstract:
A pump for pumping fluid includes a tube platen, a plunger, a bias member, inlet and outlet valves, an actuator mechanism, a position sensor, and a processor. The plunger is configured for actuation toward and away from the infusion tube when the tube platen is disposed opposite to the plunger. The tube platen can hold an intravenous infusion tube. The bias member is configured to urge the plunger toward the tube platen. The processor is configured to detect an anomaly in the tubing using the data from a position sensor on the position of the plunger.

Abstract:
Abstract:
A peristaltic pump is disclosed. The peristaltic pump comprises a plunger configured to engage with a tube; a spring configured to bias the plunger against the tube; a position sensor operatively coupled to the plunger; an inlet valve configured to impede fluid flow through the tube positioned upstream of the plunger; an outlet valve configured to impede fluid flow through the tube positioned downstream of the plunger; and at least one processor in operative communication with the position sensor. The position sensor is configured to determine a position of the plunger. The at least one processor is configured to monitor the position of the plunger when the inlet and outlet valves are closed and the plunger is being biased by the spring, and determine at least one of an occlusion, an air bubble, and a leak exists in accordance with the monitored position of the plunger.
Abstract:
Provided herein is a system for use in association with an infusion pump, the system comprising an interface into a drug error reduction system; a field editor configured to edit a field of a drug entry of the drug error reduction system using the interface, wherein the field editor is configured to suggest a standardized value to enter using data within a continuous quality improvement system when a user attempts to enter a predetermined value into the field, and a medical device simulator configured to simulate a medical device using the edited field of the drug entry of the drug error reduction system, and wherein the drug entries of the drug error reduction system are downloaded into the infusion pump.
Abstract:
An endoscope comprises a handle and a shaft with an optical housing at the distal end of the shaft enclosing a camera sensor positioned so that its optical axis is at an angle with respect to a rotational axis of the shaft. The camera sensor is rotatable with the shaft relative to a proximal housing of the handle. A rotation sensor in the handle detects the rotational angle of the camera sensor with respect to the proximal housing. A processor can correct the angular orientation of an image from the image sensor, converting of a rotating variable field of view to a translating variable field of view. A processor can apply variable smoothing of the rotation of the displayed image so that smoothing during rotational deceleration is greater than smoothing during rotational acceleration. The shaft may be enclosed in a trocar that allows for a space between the shaft and trocar that can be used to carry irrigation fluid to or from a space at the end of the shaft.
