Abstract: A full-face mask system for delivering a supply of breathable gas at positive pressure to a patient’s airways to treat a respiratory disorder, the mask system comprising: a shroud; a cushion module that engages the shroud, the cushion module including a frame and a full-face cushion adapted to engage the patient’s face generally along nasal bridge, cheek, and chin regions of the patient’s face, the frame at least partly defining a breathing chamber; an elbow connected to the frame in a releasable and rotatable manner, the elbow being adapted to be connected to an air delivery tube to deliver breathable gas to the patient; and headgear directly or indirectly attachable to the shroud in a removable manner, wherein: the frame includes an opening, the elbow including a distal end releasably inserted into the opening of the frame with a snap-fit connection to retain the elbow with the frame, whereby the snap-fit connection between the elbow and the frame also maintains the shroud in engagement with the frame. There are two apertures in the shroud, one for the protruding vent and another for the elbow connection.

Abstract: A mask system including a cushion adapted to seal with a face of a patient is disclosed. The mask could be used in a CPAP system. In one form an unobtrusive full-face masks system is provided which is comfortable and has a wide fit range. The mask system is constructed and arranged to be used on the person without requiring a forehead support. The mask system including a cushion, said cushion adapted to form a seal on the face of the patient in a nasal bridge region of the face, a side of nose region of the face, a mouth corner region of the face and a lip region of the face. The cushion is also forms a seal on the nasal bone of the nasal bridge region of a face below the nasion and above the cartilage of the nose. The cushion also includes at least one lateral stabilising portion adapted to direct a force against the side of the nose in the region of the nasal bridge. The cushion may include a sealing structure and a supporting structure. The supporting structure may include gaps or spacing in a nasal bridge region (NBR) and/or a lip region (CHN).

Abstract: An adjustable forehead support (812) for a mask assembly is disclosed. The forehead support has a frame connector as part of a mask frame. A forehead cushion (860) is mounted to the frame connector and can move in a generally linearly between a retracted and an extended position with respect to the frame connector. An adjustment knob (840) is mounted to the frame connector, the knob including a threaded shaft that is engaged with an internally threaded tube provided to the forehead cushion support such that turning the adjustment knob causes the forehead cushion support to be moved between the retracted and extended positions. Position markings (885, 886) are provided to the frame connector and / or the adjustment knob to indicate a position of the forehead cushion support.
