    Abstract: In a system in which an IEEE1394 interface is provided for an integrated receiver decoder (IRD), connected equipment can be easily selected and the operability is improved. Data can be transmitted among the equipment. For example, five equipment (15A,15B,15C, etc.) may be selected from the equipment connected to the IEEE1394 interface and node ID numbers are allocated to the five equipment and registered. Thus, even if the equipment is removed from the interface and connected again, the IRD (1) can recognize the equipment. Further, a number of equipment are not arranged on the list display of the connected equipment and desired equipment can be easily selected. Among the equipment physically connected to the interface, the five equipment which were connected early are automatically registered. The registration can be easily changed by a user input. When the registration is changed, the change of the registration is inhibited among the equipment in which the program reservation has been set or the connected equipment. Thus, even if the registration is changed, an erroneous operation does not occur.

    Abstract: A magnetic recording apparatus of a digital picture signal comprising a block segmenting circuit for converting an input digital picture signal into data segmented by blocks composed of a plurality of picture elements, an encoding circuit for compressing and encoding the output data of the block segmenting circuit by blocks, and a channel encoding circuit for channel encoding the encoded output data from the encoding circuit, wherein the output data from the channel encoding circuit is recorded on a magnetic tape by a magnetic head mounted on a rotation drum, and wherein the magnetic recording apparatus of digital picture data is characterized in that the track pitch formed on the magnetic tape by the magnetic head is 5.5 .mu.m or less, the diameter of the rotary drum is 25 mm or less, and the rotating speed of the rotary drum is 150 rps or more, the track length per unit time is set to particular value thereby. A long time recording operation with a compact mechanical unit can be performed and the error in respect with track linearity can be decreased.
