    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing polyester fibers, by which the polyester fibers can be produced in good fiber productivity in a state scarcely causing the breakage of the fibers, when spun at a high speed. SOLUTION: This method for producing the polyesters, comprising spinning a polyester at a speed of >=5,500 m/min, characterized by using a titanium compound and an antimony compound in specific amounts, respectively, as polymerization catalysts.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polyester having slight antimony content and having good color tone and heat resistance. SOLUTION: In this method for producing the polyester by polycondensing a product obtained by esterification reaction or transesterification of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid or its ester-formed derivative with a diol or its ester- formed derivative, a titanium compound and a phosphorus compound are mixed with the diol or the ester-formed derivative thereof and the mixture is heated at 160-220 deg.C and is added to the reaction system to attain the production of the polyester.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyester composition which comprises specific polymer particles having hydroxyl groups and shows excellent slipperiness and abrasion resistance, when running at a low or high speed and is suitably useful in the application to magnetic recording medium, when it is formed to film and the like. SOLUTION: A polymer component having a hydroxyl group is arranged on the outermost layer and contains multilayered polymer particles with an average particle sizes of 0.005-2.0μm, preferably 0.02-1.0μm. The polymer particles have structural units of formula I and formula II and the content of the hydroxyl group is 1×10 -1×10 mol/g particles, at least a part of the hydroxyl groups is contained in the particles of crosslinked polymer. In addition, it is preferred that the particles mainly comprises a copolymer from a compound prepared by adding (B) a unsaturated monobasic acid to (A) a compound of 2 or more glycidyl group in one molecule, and (C) a compound bearing one vinyl group in one molecule.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a polyester composition which is excellent in surface smoothness, slipperiness and wear resistance when formed into films by using specific particles and setting the composition and amount of a metallic compound contained in specific ranges. CONSTITUTION: This composition comprises a polyester containing 0.005-2.0wt.% of an organic polymer particles having an average particle size of 0.01-0.6μm and a particle size ratio (length/breadth) of 1.0-1.5 and at least one of an Mn compound and an Mg compound, a Ge compound and a P compound in amounts that satisfy the conditions of formulae I-III. Here, M, Ge and P represent the mol% of each atom of Mg or Mn, Ge and P in the Mg or Mn compound, Ge compound and P compound, respectively, based on a lower alkyl ester of a dicarboxylic acid. The composition is excellent in surface smoothness, slipperiness and wear resistance when formed into films and may suitably be used for magnetic recording media applications.
