Abstract: Biaxially-drawn polyester film for fabrication which is characterized in that it is a film comprising polyester in which ethylene terephthalate units and/or ethylene naphthalate units are the chief structural component, and the melting point of said film is 180-270.degree.C, the angle of contact to water is 70.degree.-120.degree., and the planar orientation coefficient is 0.08-0.15. This film shows outstanding release properties following repeated use, use after fabrication and use in an aqueous environment and, furthermore, it exhibits stable properties with little variation and, in particular, following lamination to metal sheet such as steel or aluminium, when used as the inner face of a fabricated metal can, it is outstanding in its non-stick properties to the contents, and provides a combination of heat resistance and processability.

The poly(lactic acid) polymer compositions of the invention are useful as formed plastics such as films.

The resin composition of this invention contains a biodegradable resin low in environmental load such as polylactic acid, and can provide a molded article at productivity equivalent to that of presently available molded polyolefin articles, which has a moisture-proof property, dimensional stability, etc. equivalent to those of the presently available molded polyolefin articles.

Abstract: A biaxially oriented polyester film is suitable for laminating onto a metall ic sheet so as to provide a laminate capable of being formed into a can. The polyester film comprises at least one of: (1) a polyester having a melting point of 246 to 280 .degree.C and being suc h that when the laminate is formed into a can, then at a neck of the can the film provides an inner 1 to 3 .mu.m portion (a) close to the metallic sheet and an outer 1 ~ 3 .mu.m portion (b) remote from the metallic sheet, which said portions (a) and (b) have respective average orientation intensity ratios, as measured by Raman spectrometry, of 6 or less and 8 or more; and (2) a polyester layer (A) of a polyester having at least 93 mol% thereof of units derived from ethylene terephthalate and/or ethylene naphthalate and a polyester layer (B) of a polyester containing an ionomer and which film has a face orientation factor of 0.10 to 0.15.

Abstract: A biaxially oriented polyester film for use in producing containers comprises (1) a polyester containing 93 mol% or more of ethylene terephthalate units as a component, having a breaking elongation in the machine direction (S MD) and a breaking elongation in the transverse direction (S TD) satisfying ÄFormula 1Ü and ÄFormula 2Ü, or (2) a polyester containing 93 mol% or more of ethylene terephthalate units as a component and having a face orientation coefficient of from 0.01 to less than 0.13, or (3) a polyester containing 95 mol% or more of ethylene terephthalate units as a component and having an amorphous Young's modulus of from 120 to 220 kg/mm . Since the film has excellent formability, impact resistance and taste property, it is especially suitable as a film on both the inner and outer faces of metallic cans.
