Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode-ray tube capable of suppressing deterioration of color purity over the whole area of a screen.
SOLUTION: A shadow mask unit of the cathode-ray tube has a mask main body disposed opposedly to a phosphor screen. The mask main body has a tube axis Z extending through a central portion, the long axis H extending perpendicularly to the tube axis Z, and the short axis V extending perpendicularly to the tube axis Z and the long axis H, on a shadow mask main surface 291 with an almost rectangular shape having a plurality of electron beam passing holes for passing electron beams emitted from an electron gun structure. The main surface 291 is characterized in that a cross section along the short axis V direction at a short side end portion 291S is formed by a single projected portion projected toward a panel side, a cross section along the short axis V direction between the short axis V and the end portion 291S is formed by a projected portion projected toward the panel side and a recessed portion projected toward an electron gun structure side and has a projected portion at a long side end portion 291L.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode-ray tube improving its explosion-proof characteristic and reducing its beam landing variation. SOLUTION: A panel 2 of a vacuum envelope has an almost rectangle-like effective part 8 having an almost flat outer surface and having a phosphor screen 1 being formed on its inner surface, and has a skirt part 9 being provided along the peripheral part of the effective part 8 and extending almost perpendicularly to the effective part 8; and a funnel 3 is joined to the skirt part 9. To the outer surface of the skirt part 9, a reinforcing band for fastening the skirt part 9 is attached. When a is the distance, along the tube axis direction, from the panel-funnel junction to the reinforcing-band edge on the outer surface side of the effective part 8 and when h is the distance, along the tube axis direction, from the junction to the center position of the outer surface of the effective part 8, the reinforcing band is provided so as to satisfy a >=0.9 h.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shadow mask having high strength by providing a mask part wherein multiple mask holes are formed and forming a recessed stripe part on at least either of the front or back surface of the mask part. SOLUTION: A shadow mask 11 used for a color cathode-ray tube is formed by pressing a shadow mask raw material 12, for instance, a thin metal sheet or the like and is equipped with a mask part 13 having multiple mask holes (electron beam passing holes) and a skirt part 14 bent from the periphery of the mask part 13. The mask part 13 has a rectangular shape, is formed into a curved surface shape having a predetermined curvature as a whole and is formed into a wave-shaped form wherein multiple recessed stripe parts 15 and projecting stripe parts 16 are alternately arranged in the long side direction. That is, the recessed stripe parts 15 and the projecting stripe parts 16 are formed in parallel with the short side of the mask part 13. The mask part 13 and an entire shadow mask 11 along with the mask part 13 can be strengthened by such a structure.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct a deflection error caused by an impact to a shadow mask and a deflection error cashed by thermal expansion during use for a long time and stably display a good-quality image by making the thickness and the length of the tilt sections of the first members of holders elastically supporting a mask frame against a face panel thinner and shorter than those of the second members. SOLUTION: A shadow mask 10 is removably hooked on stud pins 14 provided inside the corner sections of the skirt section 2b of a panel 2 via the holders 12 of elastic supporters fixed outside the corner sections of a mask frame 9. Each holder 12 is constituted of the first and second members having slant sections respectively, the thickness of the first member is made thinner than the thickness of the second member, and the length of the first slant section is made shorter than the length of the second slant section. The mislanding by thermal expansion and the mislanding by external shock to the mask frame 9 can be concurrently and effectively compensated.

When the stud pin 30 is fitted into the engaging hole 33, the bending portion 37 is inserted into the slit 38b.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent generation of a green droop and avoid collision of a side beam against the inner wall of a funnel by providing a pair of upper and lower first and second sub-coils in the rear portion of a deflector. CONSTITUTION:A pair of upper and lower first sub-coils 34 are disposed in the rear portion of a deflector 29, i.e., on a side of an electron gun 27, and a couple of upper and lower second sub-coils 35 are provided on a side of the gun 27 with respect to the coils 34. Consequently, a magnetic field having distribution of a barrel type, a pin cushion type, and a barrel type in order toward the direction of a phosphor screen 22 from the gun 27 is formed, where the barrel type is a main deflection magnetic field for generating a vertical deflection coil 32 of the deflector 29. As a result, a clearance between a side beam to be emitted from the gun 27 and the inner wall of a funnel 21 becomes large, thus preventing collision of the side beam against the inner wall of the funnel 21, and to correct a green droop which may be generated when the sub-coils are disposed in the rear portion of the deflector 29 in order to correct a coma error.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent an easy position slippage of a shadow mask to an impact and a vibration such as a dropping, by radiating a laser beam to the contact of the end edge at the panel opening side between a washer and the second elastic holder contacting closely, and welding them. CONSTITUTION:A locking member 21 formed at the opening 20 of the elastic holder (the second elastic holder) 13b of a shadow mask 5 held tentatively to a panel 2 is bent to a mask frame 12 side, and removed from a stud pin 14. After a washer 22 is engaged and locked to the pin 14, the bending of the locking member 21 is released, and the washer 22 is contacted closely to the surface of the skirt side of the panel 2 of the locking member 21 of the holder 13b. One corner of the mask 5 installed to the holder 13b is moved to regulate the interval between the inner surface of the panel 2 and the mask 5. After that, a laser beam is focused and radiated to the contact 30 at the end edges at the opening side of the panel 2 between the washer 22 and the locking member 21, so as to weld the contact 30 at the opening side of the panel 2, at plural welding points. Consequently, the mask 5 can be held stably.
